First and second signals representing unevenness of the roadway are generated for at least one wheel, and brake pressure is controlled using control parameters based on the second signal. The first signal is compared to a first threshold which is dependent on the second signal, and an extreme value signal which represents large impacts on the vehicle is generated when the threshold is exceeded. The control parameters are then adjusted so that the channels for controlling brake pressure at each controlled wheel are less sensitive.

Suspension systems are actuated during braking and/or acceleration maneuvers whereby each wheel unit has a momentary normal force between the tire and road surface, i.e., the wheel load which is influenced in the direction of its greatest possible value. For that purpose, the progression of the wheel load, specifically the dynamic share, is determined from the sensed movements between the wheel units and the vehicle body and/or from the sensed movements of the wheel units. Results of a frequency analysis of the wheel loads and the time progression, specifically the time derivation of the wheel load, are utilized for adjustment of the suspension systems in the sense described above. The suspension systems between the vehicle body and wheels are during braking and/or acceleration maneuvers actuated whereby the mean spacing between the vehicle body and the wheels units is time-progressively reduced during the braking and/or acceleration maneuvers.

Process and device for chassis control

The invention relates to a process for the undercarriage regulation of vehicles, especially of passenger and utility motor vehicles, in which the undercarraige properties are varied in dependence on the particular sensor-determined traveling state by the regulating system. For an adaptation of the undercarriage tuning to the various requirements in respect to traveling comfort and traveling safety it is provided that the regulator parameters (R) of the regulating circuit are automatically varied in dependence on the dynamics of the traveling process.

Process for undercarriage regulation

Described is a process for conditioning of sensor signals for at least one of undercarriage regulation and control. The objective of this process is to superimpose on processed first signals which represent the acceleration of the vehicle body the low-frequency information absent from the signal of a vehicle body acceleration sensor by a circuit of simple design through a defined superimposition with the sensor signals corresponding to at least one of the spring deflection path and the spring deflection velocity. For that purpose, the sensor signals to be superimposed are processed in filter units whose transfer functions show a specific functional correlation.
