A position-sensing sensor of a position-sensing system includes first and a second radio transponders that each have a transmitter/receiver connected to an antenna and has a memory for persistent data storage, wherein the first radio transponder has an energy supply source and is selectively switchable into a reduced energy consumption idle state and into an active operating state with complete range of functionality, where during the active operating state, a radio connection to a first radio transponder reader is established for position sensing, where the second radio transponder, which is inductively supplyable with energy by a radio transponder reader, upon entering a range of a second radio transponder reading unit, transfers the first radio transponder from the idle state into the active operating state or transfers position information associated with the second radio transponder to a server of the position-sensing system via the second radio transponder reader.

A reader for data interchange with a mobile data memory, i.e., a ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID transponder, wherein the reader includes reception electronics for converting a high frequency signal received via an antenna into a low frequency signal and includes a decoding device for converting the low frequency signal into data. A method for configuring and operating a read/write unit connected to an industrial control device in a system including multiple transponders having unique identification numbers, the read/write unit. During a recognition phase, a plurality of the transponders are detected, at least two of the transponders are repeatedly detected, and during each detection, the unique identification number of each detected transponder and a number of features relating to each detection of that transponder are registered. During an evaluation phase, the registered features are evaluated statistically for each detected transponder, statistical variables are determined for each detected transponder, and the statistical variables are respectively filtered using filter criteria. The unique identification number of one of the detected transponders that meets the filter criteria is reported to the industrial control device as a detected transponder to provide unambiguous identification of the closest transponder to the read/write unit, even in densely packed surroundings.

An RFID reader is provided. The RFID reader includes a transmitter section and a receiver section. The transmitter section is configured to transmit a first RF signal which includes several carrier frequencies that are effective to simultaneously illuminate a tag at the plurality of carrier frequencies. The receiver section is configured to receive a second RF signal which includes several frequencies which each have the same information.

A method for conducting a passive label query in a radio frequency identification system, wherein a query process conducted by a reader for a group of passive labels comprises a first query and a subsequent query. The link frequency used by a reverse link from the passive label to the reader in the subsequent query is smaller than that the link frequency used by the reverse link in the first query. The method improves the reverse link performance of a passive label radio frequency identification system, and increased the reading success rate of the passive label. A reader is also provided to implement the method.

A method for coding a sequence of data bits (B-B), at least one of said bits having a logical on value or a logical off value. The data bits are organized in a sequence of time slot frames (Fr-FR). At least one time slot frame has a plurality of time slots (ZS-ZS). Each of the plurality of times slots are capable of having an on value or an off value (Zor Z). The coding comprises preloading a time slot (ZSAF) from the plurality of time slots with an off value (Z). Each of the time slots (ZS-ZS) other than the preloaded time slot (ZS) are loaded with an on value or an off value to form a logical on value or logical off value for the at least one of said data bits. A time slot with an off value from the plurality of time slots always follows another time slot with an on value from the plurality of time slots. The logical on value is complementary to the logical off value.
