An electrical light has a tubular sheet-metal housing centered generally on an axis and formed with a plurality of angularly spaced, radially inwardly projecting, and radially elastically deflectable spring tongues. A socket in the housing holds a light bulb. A cup-shaped glass lens has a dome formed with a generally cylindrical collar dimensioned to fit into the housing with the dome fitting over a light bulb in the socket. The collar is formed with a plurality of angularly spaced and radially outwardly open L-shaped grooves each fittable with a respective one of the tongues. Each groove has an axially extending and open leg and an angularly extending leg. The angularly extending legs each have an outer flank and an inner flank between the respective outer flank and the dome.

A lampholder has a socket having an inner end, formed with seats adapted to hold contacts, and forming an outwardly open hole defining an axis and adapted to fit with a base of a high-voltage lamp and a base fittable against the inner end and having a floor formed with an axially throughgoing hole. A clip is formed with a bight engaged in the hole, a pair of arms extending from respective ends of the bight axially outward into the socket, outer tabs on the arms bearing axially inward on the socket, and inner tabs at the bight bearing axially outward on the floor of the base so that the clip holds the socket and base together.

Holder for halogen lamp

A lampholder has a socket having an inner end and formed with an outwardly open lamp seat defining an axis and adapted to fit with a base of a high-voltage lamp and with a pair of inwardly open blind contact holes. A base fitted against the inner end and formed at the contact holes with respective contact seats has a floor formed in line with each contact hole with an axially throughgoing aperture. Respective contacts in the contact seats are each formed with an abutment arm extending along a wall of the respective contact hole and a spring arm extending into the respective contact hole and elastically deformable from a rest position closely juxtaposed with the respective abutment arm to a holding position spaced therefrom. Thus a conductor pushed through one of the apertures into the respective contact hole will wedge between the contact arms.

High-voltage lampholder with quick-connect contacts

A lampholder has an outer sleeve centered on an axis and having a radially inwardly projecting lug having an axially inwardly directed end face and an inner core adapted to fit with a lamp, fittable inside the sleeve, and formed with an axially inwardly directed face axially alignable and engageable with the outer-sleeve end face on rotation of the core in the sleeve in a predetermined sense in a fully inserted position of the inner core in the sleeve. Interengageable retaining formations on the core and on the sleeve inhibit rotation of the core in the sleeve opposite to the predetermined sense when the faces are axially aligned with and engage each other.

Two-part holder for high-voltage lamp

A lamp holder has a socket housing forming a seat centered on an axis, and a contact fitted to the seat and formed unitarily with a pair of opposite generally axially extending sides flanking the axis. A front finger extending generally axially from one of the sides has a pair of opposite edges and therebetween a face directed radially toward the axis and pressing the lamp contact pin transversely of the axis against the other side. A back finger extending from the other side offset laterally from the front finger has an outer edge juxtaposed with the one side. The conductive core is pinched between the outer edge and the one side laterally adjacent the front finger and bears laterally against one of the edges of the front finger.

Lamp-socket contact

A fluorescent-lamp socket has a hollow dielectric housing, and a pair of identical conductive contact elements in the housing, each contact element is unitarily formed with an outer lamp-contacting end adapted to engage a respective pin of the lamp, an inner wiring end formed as a wire-engaging clip, a center part extending between the respective inner and outer ends, and an elastic tongue unitarily formed with the respective center part and projecting transversely toward the other contact element. The contact elements are formed of resilient sheet metal. The housing can include a web projecting between and holding apart the elastic tongues. Alternately it can be constructed such that either the tongues bear on each other and electrically interconnect the contact elements or each tongue bears on the center part of the other contact element to electrically interconnect the contact elements.

Fluorescent-lamp socket

Two substantially identical LED modules each have a nonconductive base having a straight edge and a pair of faces, at least one LED on the base, and two conductive traces on the base connected to the LED and forming on one of the faces inner and outer contacts spaced along a line perpendicular from the edge with the outer contact between the inner contact and the edge. The modules are juxtaposed at the edges with the lines aligned with each other and the one faces generally coplanar. A clip has a nonconductive body bearing on the one faces of both of the bases at the edges and two respective conductors on the clip body having portions spaced apart along the aligned lines and bearing on the contacts of both bases. The clip body and conductors are pressed against the bases to engage the conductors with the respective contacts and secure the bases together.

A lamp holder has a contact spring which, instead of being bent into a U-shape and having its barb on the bracing shank opposite the retaining shank, has a bracing barb or lug bent out of the retaining shank itself and engageable as an indexing member behind a projection formed on the lamp housing.

Lamp holder

An apparatus for installing between a pair of spaced terminals a wire having a conductive core and an insulating sheath surrounding the core and interrupted at spaced stripped regions has a head defining a passage having an outer end, a guide element on the head at the outer end forming a passage alignable with the head passage, and a supply for feeding the wire along the head passage and the guide-element passage. A cutter on the head at the outer end can sever through the core in the stripped regions between the head and the guide element and the guide element can be pivoted on the head about an axis transverse to the guide-element passage for directing the passage at any of a plurality of different angles to the horizontal and vertical.

Fluorescent lamp holder

An electrical device having a base from which extend two parallel connector pins each having a small-diameter shank and a large-diameter head is fittable with a socket having a housing formed with a transverse wall having front and back faces and having between the faces a predetermined thickness substantially less than a distance between an end face of the device and the heads. The wall is formed with a pair of throughgoing slots each having a wide end through which a respective one of the heads can pass and an opposite narrow end so that the device can be fitted to the housing by passing the heads of the pins through the wide ends until the device end face engages the wall front face followed by turning of the device to displace the heads toward the narrow ends of the respective slots. A respective ramp at each of slots adjacent the respective narrow end is engageable with an underside of the respective head and is angled such that, on movement of the respective pin toward the respective narrow end, the respective head is cammed backward away from the wall back face and the device end face is pressed against the wall front face. Respective electrical contacts on the housing at the slots engage the heads of the respective pins when same are at the narrow slot ends.
