The invention provides a weight to be used to submerge the hose used with swimming pool cleaners and which may be variably positioned at any position along the length of the hose, the weight having an annular metal member encased in plastics material with the plastics material also providing an inwardly directed radial flange to engage in the recesses between the corrugations of the hose.

A swimming pool cleaner relief valve comprising a body; a flow passage through the body having an inlet and an outlet for connection to a pipe having an induced flow therethrough; a bypass passage through the body connected to the flow passage and open to ambient conditions at a free end and having parallel ridges on its inner surface and a restriction at the free end; a flexible resilient diaphragm that slides coaxially within the bypass passage having a peripheral flange and a perforation permitting flow therethrough in only one direction and variable in size depending upon the degree of flexing of the diaphragm, and cooperating members movable in the parallel ridges to prevent complete withdrawal of the diaphragm from the bypass passage; and a collar having a ring with a recess that receives the flange and having serrated projections that engage the restriction.

This invention is concerned with the sealing of component parts of equipment providing a path for liquid therethrough under reduced pressure and to the inclusion of a lip seal between the components with the lips directed outwardly of the joint between the components. More particularly the invention is concerned with the use of lip seals referred to in debris traps included in domestic swimming pool filtration equipment.

This invention relates to a relief valve used where there is an induced flow through equipment. The relief valve controls the flow through the equipment at a uniform rate and also provides for pressure relief of the liquid used in the equipment. The valve comprising a body having a flow passage therethrough with an inlet and an outlet for connection into a pipe having induced flow therethrough. A bypass passage from the body between the inlet and the outlet and open to ambient conditions at the free end is also provided. There is a flexible resilient diaphragm in the bypass passage perforated to permit flow therethrough in one direction only and the perforation variable in size dependant on the degree of flexing of the diaphragm.

This invention concerns automatic swimming pool cleaner accessories which may be used to prevent such pool cleaners from following a substantial fixed pattern over a submerged surface to be cleaned and consists of a collar shaped to firmly engage the flexible hose used with a pool clenar, the collar having a plurality of projections extending radially from the collar. The projections may be stems terminating in spherical members at their outer ends.

This invention is concerned with flexible plastics material discs which are shaped to engage around the inlets to automatically operating swimming pool cleaners which are caused to move by an interruption of the flow induced through the cleaner by the pump of the pool filtration plant. The discs act to hold the cleaner against the surface to be cleaned and the invention provides guides on the upper surface of the disc preferably in the form of radially extending ribs decreasing in height towards the periphery of the disc. The guides direct dirt over the disc into the inlet of the pool cleaner.

A valve member for a water interruption pool cleaner installable within the operating head between an open mouth and the flexible hose connection. The valve is a tubular body of flexible material. The body assumes a substantially collapsed condition over a segment thereof in absence of a pressure differential across the wall. Along the collapsed segment, the body has diverging interior walls in the direction of water flow. Longitudinal ribbing on each side of the body may be provided for reinforcement.

This invention relates to a valve assembly including a hollow body housing a tubular flexible diaphragm therein to provide a passage for fluid flow through the body. The assembly includes means whereby pressures within the diaphragm and in the chamber between the diaphragm and the hollow body are controlled so that, in use with fluid flowing through the diaphragm, it will be caused to automatically and repeatedly contract and expand. This will result in a pulsating flow of fluid through the assembly. Such a valve assembly finds particular application in a swimming pool cleaner operating off the reduced pressure provided by the pump for the conventional pool filtration plant and this invention includes a cleaner of this type including a valve assembly as set forth.
