A motor vehicle is provided with an at least partially retractable roof and a rear seat area provided with a seat arrangement to be used as a storage space into which the retractable roof area can be moved from above, whereby an occupying of the rear seats becomes possible only when the roof is closed. In order to obtain more constructive freedom in designing the rear seat area and the roof coordinated with the rear seat area, at least one part of the seat arrangement can be displaced from an in-use position which obstructs areas of the storage space of the roof into a not-in-use position which exposes the space for the lowering of the roof.

Motor vehicle having an at least partially retractable roof

A motor vehicle with a lowerable roof construction, particularly a convertible sports car, has a roof part and a rear part as well as a forced control device for controlling the relative movement of the roof part with respect to the rear part. The forced control device has at least one control element which is connected in the region of the roof swivel axis in a rotationally fixed manner to the roof part and interacts with at least one further control element which is fixed to the body of the vehicle and is in the region of the rear swivel axis.

Motor vehicle with a lowerable roof construction

A motor vehicle driving engine arrangement for use in vehicles with an extremely short forward portion in which the engine is reliably prevented from penetrating into the passenger compartment. The driving engine is installed at an acute angle while being sloped with respect to the horizontal line that important areas of the driving engine extend behind the front axle. A downward-pointing rigid sliding surface is formed by an area of an end wall face approximately parallel to the acute angle for the driving engine which is displaceable toward the rear during a frontal impact. Forward and rearward engine mounts or bearings of an auxiliary frame carrying the driving engine are constructed or dimensioned so that, during a frontal impact, the driving engine remains connected with the vehicle via the forward engine mounts or bearings of an auxiliary frame carrying the driving engine, while the rearward engine mounts or bearings of an auxiliary frame carrying the driving engine are destroyed or released.

Arrangement of a motor vehicle driving engine

A stiff vehicle floor structure is arranged in a common plane with vehicle bumpers. A plurality of energy-absorbing impact elements are distributed spaced from one another along the length of a vehicle passenger compartment and at the height of the floor structure. The impact elements are provided in side body parts of the vehicle and serve to contribute to transverse stiffness of the vehicle by absorbing the impact energy and transferring collision forces to the floor structure.
