A rotor blade, for example for a windmill, comprises a plurality of blade ctions between a blade root and a tip. The sections are interconnected by tensioning members such as steel cables or the like, preferably extending through the blade sections. Thus, each section may be manufactured individually and all components may be assembled at the construction site, whereby relatively large windmill rotors may be constructed.

A webbing reinforced by carbon fibers is heated during its resin impregnation by passing an electric current through the carbon fibers whereby the carbon fibers act directly as heating mats in a system of layers of fiber reinforced material. Thus, the use of heated molds has been obviated which is of particular advantage especially for large scale structural components, especially if such components have a complicated configuration.

Mold bodies, for example, for the wings of rotary wing aircraft are formed y densifying a core of a hard foam material under such pressure and temperature conditions that later, when the core is placed into a mold together with the cover layer of a heat curable synthetic material, the core will expand again in response to heating the cover layer to its curing temperature. This expansion causes an intimate, complete bond between the core and the cover layer.
