The invention relates to a method, device and a circuit for detecting surface defects such as cracks, fractures and the like on a roller () for a rolling mill (), in particular on the working rollers () which are mounted with support roller () on a vertical stand (). The rollers () are verified for detecting defects in the operation position thereof, transversal ultrasonic waves () whose frequency is approximately equal to 0.5-2 MHz are transmitted to the first end of the roller () and are received on the second end () thereof and during a measuring process an ultrasound transducer () and an ultrasound receiver () are pressed against the cylinder () surface for a test time.

Method and apparatus for detecting surface defects in rolling mill rollers

The invention relates to a roll stand for hot-rolling or cold-rolling metallic strips. The roll stand comprises back-up rolls and work rolls () which are respectively positioned in chocks () in a rotating manner. Each chock () can be displaced on two sides in guiding devices () of the column frame () for adjusting the roll gap () and can be additionally displaced on at least one side for adjusting the play, by means of horizontal piston cylinder units () arranged in the column frame (). The aim of the invention is to completely eliminate the play in the vertical guiding device () of the work roll chocks () during the rolling. To this end, the chocks which are guided on at least one side of the column () by means of the piston cylinder unit () arranged in the column frame () and by means of one respective support element () which is arranged on the front side of the piston (), can be pressed against the other side of the column () and the guiding device () thereof without play when the vertical roll positioning drive is stopped. and can be released when the vertical roll positioning device is switched on.

Roll stand for hot-rolling or cold-rolling metallic strips

A reel configuration for winding thinly rolled finished strip after passing through a cooling section situated at the end of an installation for the continuous rolling of hot strip cross sections from thin slabs which are cast with near-final dimensions, on one of two expandable reel mandrels arranged such that they float in a horizontal and parallel manner with respect to one another. The mandrels are mounted such that they are rotatably driven independently of one another in a supporting structure which can rotate about a common horizontal center axis and to which the finished strip coming from the finishing train can be fed by means of a driver-shear combination. High speed emergency shears are arranged upstream of the driver-shear combination and have assigned to them a collecting space underneath the plane of the roller table for receiving the residual material from the finishing train.

Reel configuration for winding thinly rolled finished strip

A supporting or intermediate roll in rolling mills for rolling flat rolling stock, in particular strip material, having a cylindrical roll core and a tubular sleeve which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to said roll core, engages coaxially around the same and between which and the roll core there are arranged hydraulically axially displaceable supporting bodies which support the roll sleeve against the roll core. In this case, the supporting bodies are formed with at least two annular pistons, which are arranged symmetrically in relation to the roll center and are sealed in relation to the roll core and the inside of the roll sleeve, and include a plurality of annular supporting bearings, which are arranged on the outer circumference of the pistons, are spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the roll and against which the inner surface of the roll sleeve can be positioned.

Back-up or intermediate roller for producing a flat rolled product in a rolling mill

A rolling mill with working rolls and with multipart support rolls. The rolling mill includes of a basic body with a plurality of rolling bearings which are arranged next to one another on the basic body in its longitudinal direction. The outer rings of the bearing rotatably support a sleeve which surrounds the rolling bearings and bears with its inner surface, all-round, on the outer surfaces of the outer rings of the rolling bearings and the outer surface of which forms the roll barrel of the support roll. Three rolling bearings, of which the middle rolling bearing is designed as a tapered rolling bearing, are provided over the length of the basic body. In this case the two outer rolling bearings are designed as cylindrical roller bearings and an eccentric bush motively rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the basic body is arranged between the two cylindrical roller bearings and the basic body.

An apparatus for the winding of striplike material, in particular steel strip, in each case on one of two spreadable winding mandrels which are arranged, overhung, horizontally and parallel to one another and which, driven in rotation independently of one another, are mounted, in a carrying structure rotatable about a common horizontal central axis, on a vertical carrying wall in the form of a circular disk. The carrying wall in the form of a circular disk is arranged coaxially at the end of a central carrying shaft mounted, at its end opposite the carrying wall, in a rotary bearing. The gears for the winding mandrels are arranged, on the side of the carrying wall which faces away from the winding mandrels, in selfsupporting cases with cover division, which are connected to the carrying wall and with the latter form the carrying structure and which are themselves connected supportingly to at least one carrier which is fastened, overhung, to the carrying wall, so as to be parallel to the carrying shaft, and which, between the gear case and the rotary bearing, carries the drive motors for the winding mandrels, said drive motors being arranged on brackets.

A process for regrinding the rolls installed in hot-strip roll stands using rotating pot-shaped grinding tools which are movable in an oscillating manner parallel to the roll axis. The grinding tool is fastened to the end of a grinding shaft which is driven in rotation so as to be axially displaceable transversely to the roll, guided coaxially in a grinding sleeve and connected at its opposite end with a displacing drive supported directly at the housing. The contact pressing force of the grinding tools at the roll is applied by compressed air which is supplied to the displacing drives. The air pressure, which is preset corresponding to the desired contact pressing force, is changed within a narrow range until the torques of all grinding tools or of one of the grinding tools measured at the drive motors for the grinding tools which are driven in rotation are identical and constant.

Process and device for regrinding rolls installed in hot-strip roll

A device for winding strip-type material, especially steel strip, alternately on each of two expandable coiler drums arranged horizontally and parallel to one another, which are mounted in free-floating fashion in a carrying frame arranged in rotary-drivable fashion around a shared horizontal central axis and are themselves rotary-drivable independently of one another. The rotary drives for the coiler drums together with the carrying frame are attached to the frame in rotatable fashion. The drum-type carrying frame consists of two vertical circular-disk-type carrying walls which are separated from and parallel to one another. Longitudinal traverses connect the carrying walls together. On the longitudinal traverses are mounted the coiler drums, which penetrate one carrying wall, and their expanding drives. Flanged onto the outside of the other carrying wall are the simultaneously drivable rotary drives, which are connected to the coiler drums through universal joint shafts in geared fashion.

An apparatus for guiding hot-rolled strips through an inductor, arranged between two adjacent roll stands, of an induction heating device, in particular within a finishing mill behind a strip-casting installation or thin-slab casting installation. The apparatus guides the strip between the roll stands under controlled tension over at least two guide rollers arranged on both sides of the inductor in a plane of travel of the strip which extends centrally through the inductor space between the induction coils. A tension-measurement roller is provided for regulating the tension of the strip and is arranged in front of the inductor and the first guide roller.

A drum-type shear for cutting high-speed strip, especially hot strip, includes a blade that is movable radially into and out of a rotating blade drum from which it is extendable into a strip-cutting position at a desired cutting time. In order to provide reliable and accurate cross-cutting of even broad and thick strips using nevertheless simple structural means, a linearly translatable push-pull rod that extends axially in the blade drum has wedge surfaces that abut with corresponding wedge surfaces of the blade or blade holder for extending and retracting the cutting blade. The push-pull rod rotates with the blade drum and is connected to a stationary linear drive via a thrust bearing for transmitting axial rod-translating forces to the push-pull rod as the rod rotates with the drum.

Apparatus for cutting a high-speed strip

A process for pickling a strip which is produced in a thin slab installation and subsequently hot-rolled, especially a low-carbon steel strip, in a continuous process immediately following the rolling process. The process includes the following sequence of steps: gently cooling the strip exiting the rolling mill at .gtoreq.880.degree. C. in a first cooling zone to 850.degree. to 680.degree. C., balancing surface temperature and core temperature of the strip in a first recovery zone to a uniform cross section temperature of approximately 680.degree. C., gently cooling the strip in an immediately adjoining second cooling zone from 680.degree. to 480.degree. C., and balancing surface temperature and core temperature in a second recovery zone to a uniform cross section temperature of approximately 480.degree. C. The process continues by drastically cooling the strip from 480.degree. C. to approximately 95.degree. C. in a third cooling zone, balancing surface temperature and core temperature in a third recovery zone to a uniform cross section temperature of approximately 100.degree. C., guiding the strip through a number of connectable and disconnectable chemical pickling vessels at appropriately adapted pickling temperatures, the number of vessels being adapted to the thickness and/or running speed of the strip, and rinsing, drying and coiling the pickled strip.

A roll stand with backing rolls and work rolls for rolling sheets and strips, in which at least the upper and lower work rolls mounted in chucks inside of housing windows formed between housing columns of the roll housing can be moved out of their shared vertical plane horizontally in opposite directions by movement drives effectively associated with the roll chucks into positions wherein the vertical planes that pass through the axis of roll of the upper work roll and of the lower work roll intersect. This is achieved by the fact that on the inner and outer sides (which are opposite to each other and run parallel to the direction of roll) of each housing column, a movement and a swivel bearing are arranged for one of two substantially horizontal beams. The beams are parallel, connected to each other and extend on both sides past the housing columns on one side, the beams extend into the housing window and, on the side facing away from the housing window, out of the roll housing. The respective ends of two beam pairs extending into the housing windows on one housing side support the chucks of the upper and the lower work roll so that the chucks are synchronously adjustable on both sides in the vertical and the horizontal directions. The other protruding ends of the beam pairs connect to the movement devices and to deflecting devices.

Roll stand with backing rolls and work rolls

A planetary mill having two stationary backing bodies, located one above the other in chocks in a roll stand. Two synchronously rotary-driven cage rings are coaxially mounted on the backing bodies so as to be separated from one another. The case rings rotate in parallel planes of rotation, and respectively hold, in swing roll bearings, one end of work rolls and/or intermediate rolls arranged between the two cage rings. The rolls and the cage rings rotate together around the backing body. The rolls rest against roll-off surfaces in the area of the roll gap. The cage rings are turnable relative to one another in their planes of rotation, to permit setting of the desired rolling material profile without changing the position of the roll-off surfaces.

Planetary mill

A roll stand for a planetary rolling mill having a housing, and two stationary support members mounted in chocks, with rolling segments and intermediate and work rolls mounted in rotationally driven cages. The support members have a plurality of rolling segments, spaced about an outer surface thereof. By the turning of the support members, the rolling segments can be brought, in each case, into working position. In order to be able to effect a change of the rolling segments while using the favorable torque division of the drive system for the roll cages, the support members (1) are rotatably mounted in their chocks (15) adapted to be clamped (20) in the working position of the rolling segments (16). A drive is selectably engaged to rotate the support member into a new working position.

Roll stand for a planetary rolling mill

A device for facilitating the grinding of the working rolls of a planetary rolling mill in which working rolls are mounted together with intermediate rolls in cages which rotate about a support body, a rolling mill having an upper planet roll and a lower planet roll. In order to provide a low cost and economically operating roll grinding device, allowing simple, fast and precise grinding of the working rolls with reduced mill down time, a planet roll (1) is associated with a manipulating device (2) which is moveable in at least three planes or axes of movement and with which the working rolls (3) can be removed individually from the planet roll (1) and fed to a grinding device (5) as well as returned into the planet roll (1).
