A method for increasing an adhesive to a substrate is disclosed which utilizes a hydrophilic, high molecular weight, nonionic polyurethane adhesive. The polyurethane adhesive is soluble in water and a 1% by weight solution of the adhesive in water at 20% has a specific viscosity of at least 0.4. Aromatic compound-free solvent for printing inks, consisting of a solvent mixture characterised in that is contains (a) 80-99% by weight aromatic compound-free mineral oil; (b) 1 to 20% by weight of an ester of a C,-C,fatty acid with up to 60 C atoms in total; and/or (c) 1 to 20% by weight of a fatty alcohol with 6 to 36 C atoms. Also disclosed are printing inks that contain binders, pigments, aromatic compound-free solvents and optional additives.

The invention is a surfactant composition comprising about 20 weight % to about 76 weight % of a fatty alcohol ethoxylate having a degree of ethoxylation of at least 14, about 4 weight % to about 40 weight % alkylpolyglycoside, and about 20 weight % to about 60 weight % water, wherein said composition is a liquid at room temperature, free of gel or solid phase, lattices containing said surfactant composition and a process for making said lattices.
