A photographic roll-film pack, comprised of a light-proof core case with roll-film, with a photographic shutter, film advance means with manual control, a picture counter, a shutter-release device and apertures and/or lenses of a picture-taking lens and/or viewfinder defining optical beam paths, with a covering for the core case which leaves uncovered at least one manual control, is designed so that the covering is formed by a protective case (11, 12), enclosing the core case (1, 2), which is composed of shells (11, 12) of essentially rigid plastics which is at least transparent in the areas of apertures and/or lenses of a picture-taking lens and/or viewfinder defining optical beam paths. The roll-film pack is thereby protected against moisture, dirt and damage, but can still be manufactured cost-effectively using automated production and it can be re-assembled following removal of an exposed film.

A camera for roll film which can be wound into a film cassette has a central subassembly forming a light-tight inner body in which a film cassette chamber which receives the film cassette is contained and in which a film guidance device is contained, and has an outer body which surrounds the central subassembly, wherein the film cassette chamber of the central subassembly can be closed by a removable cassette chamber cover which is accessible through an opening in the outer body.

A film cartridge, particularly associated with a camera, has a housing bounding a light-tight film roll chamber, and a mouth member arranged for passing a film therethrough and located outside the light-tight film roll chamber. The mouth member has a wall and at least one slot-shaped opening extending in a film transport direction and arranged so as to allow a film actuating member to engage therethrough a film received in the mouth member. Arresting means provided in the mouth member is engageable with an initial portion of the film and disengageable from the latter by camera-actuated means.

A film winding spool for a photographic camera has an inner cylindrical member driven in rotation and provided with engaging formations for engaging an initial portion of the film, and an outer cylindrical member surrounding the inner member so as to form a space therebetween and having a slot for introducing the initial portion of a film into this space and an outer surface for winding successive coils of the film, wherein the outer member has at least one opening arranged so that a piece of the film separated from a remaining part of the film can be withdrawn from the space between the inner and outer members through the opening.

A photographic roll film camera has a film supply chamber, a spoolless film take-up chamber, a transporting element for transporting the film between these chambers, and a film roll-forming element including a part of the wall of the take-up chamber formed in correspondence to a whole film roll, and a spring-biased guiding lever extending into the take-up chamber and bounding together with the wall a small space for forming a first coil of the film roll so that the initial portion of the film is guided into the small space by the guiding lever and thereafter with increase of the diameter of the film roll during winding of subsequent coils, the guiding lever turns and space for formation of the film roll expands.

A film transport arrangement for a cassette has a film transport handle, a perforation wheel having a plurality of keys and arranged to engage a perforated film accommodated in a cassette having a film mouth and inserted or insertable in the camera and to move the film from the cassette, and an adjusting device for adjusting the perforation wheel and arranged between the film transport handle and the perforation wheel so that the perforation wheel is always held or brought into such an angular position in which one of its teeth engages in a perforation hole of a film initial portion lying in a film mouth of the cassette insertable or inserted in the camera.

A film cassette for multi-exposure film strips has a body part with an inner compartment for a film strip and at least one opening for passage of the film strip therethrough between an initial position before exposure and a final position after exposure, and elements for preventing unintentional withdrawal of the film strip from the body part in at least one of these positions, the preventing elements arranged between the body part and the film strip. The preventing elements can be arranged so that they prevent unintentional withdrawal of the film strip in both positions. The preventing elements include a recess provided in one of the film strip and the body part, and a projection provided in the other of the film strip and the body part and engageable in the recess.

The invention relates to a film cassette for a photosensitive film consisting of a light-proof, flat flexible case substantially equal in length to the strip of film and a cassette opening which extends perpendicularly of the length of the case and which is provided with light-sealing means whereby the top part and the bottom part of the cassette being fixedly interconnected solely in the vicinity of the cassette opening and the other three edges are displaceable relative to one another in light proof labyrinths, even if the case is bent, the strip of film retains its freedom of movement.

A digital circuit is described for controlling functions of a camera wherein the circuit is powered by a potential source which is connected to the circuit through a relay actuated switch. The circuit employs a plurality of D-flip flops to regulate functions such as film transport and opening and closing of the camera shutter as a function of the light intensity of the scene being photographed. A reset signal generator is used to provide stable and reliable control over the starting condition of the flip flops and render the circuit insensitive to voltage transients as may occur from contact bounce effects at the relay actuated switch. The reset signal generator employs an inverter delay chain to provide like reset pulses when such contact bounce occurs. Various control features are described.

A still camera has a generally L-shaped electronic flash unit permanently mounted on it. The flash unit can pivot between an upright operative position and a substantially horizontal inoperative position in which its flash head is located above the camera lens mount and the unit forms an integrated part of the housing.

A photographic camera has a housing, a viewfinder, an objective displaceable between extended and retracted positions relative to the housing, a device for displacing the objective between the extended and retracted positions, a film transporting device, a film take-up spool, an electric motor rotatable in two opposite directions and arranged so that when the electric motor rotates in one of the directions it is coupled with the objective displacing device, and when the motor rotates in the other of the directions it is coupled with the film transporting device and the film take-up spool, a switching element for reversing the electric motor, and a locking device for the film take-up spool, coupled with the switching element so that when the electric motor is switched for rotation in the one direction for displacing the objective and is coupled with the objective displacing device the film take-up spool is locked against rotation, and when the electric motor is reversed and uncoupled the film take-up spool is released.

A novel film cartridge, camera for use with such cartridge and method of making such cartridge are disclosed. The cartridge is in form of a pocket of a material which is impermeable to light and which accommodates a multi-exposure film strip having a length at least equal to the length of the pocket. The pocket is provided with at least one opening extending transversely to its elongation and through which a leading end of the film strip extends to the exterior of the pocket so that it can be engaged by a film transporting mechanism of a camera suitable for accommodating such a pocket, which mechanism transports the film strip either in one continuous movement out of the pocket and into a storage space of the camera from where it is sequentially transported into the pocket in increments during which exposures are made, or else the film is sequentially transported out of the pocket and into the camera storage space with exposures being made during each transporting step and the exposed film is thereupon returned in a single movement into the pocket. However, the pocket may also have two parts one of which accommodates the non-exposed film strip which is then transported during exposures into the other part so that the film strip becomes completely located in the other part when it is fully exposed and a re-transportation into the first part of the pocket is not necessary. Cameras suitable for use with various embodiments of the novel cartridge are also disclosed, as well as methods of making the cartridge.

A miniature still camera wherein a brick-shaped main section of the housing supports and guides an L-shaped second section the longer leg of which is parallel to and located in front of the elongated front side of the main section and the shorter leg of which is parallel to a shorter second side of the main section. The second section is reciprocable between a first position in which its longer leg conceals a picture taking lens which is recessed into the front side of the main section and the shorter leg conceals a view finder in the main section, and a second position in which the lens and the view finder are exposed and the camera is ready to take pictures. The second section cocks the shutter and/or actuates the film transporting mechanism during movement between its first and second positions and is biased to its second position by a helical spring which reacts against a lug of the main section and bears against an eyelet of the second section. The lug and eyelet surround an elongated guide rod which is mounted in the second section adjacent to and in parallelism with the longer leg. The shorter leg of the second section has a tongue which extends into and is guided by a groove in the rear wall of the main section.

A still-camera film transport system includes a perforation feeler and cooperating perforation-detecting switch generating a perforation signal. A motor speed sensor generates a signal indicative of whether the motor speed is above or below a certain level. A shutter-state switch generates a signal indicating whether the shutter is in set or unset state. A motor-control switch is controlled from the output of a logic-circuit stage which receives the above three signals. During normal operation before the film end is reached, the perforation signal is used to generate a deenergize-motor signal, but in dependence upon the shutter-state signal. When the film end is reached no further perforations follow, but the transport motor comes to a halt because it cannot pull the film further. The motor-speed signal indicates this and, when applied to the logic-circuit stage, causes the motor to be deenergized if the shutter is in set state.

The control mechanism for a photographic camera using film carrtridges having coded marks indicative of the sensitivity of the employed film includes a hand-operated control member for setting at least one exposure parameter, an axially movable objective for setting the distance, an adjustable diaphragm, a scanner movable against the marks on the cartridge for displacing the control member in response to the coded marks, a stationary cam surface engaging the objective, transmission gears coupled between the control member and the objective to axially displace the latter according to a distance setting and according to the shape of the stationary cam and curves provided on the control member to display at least the applicable exposure range and the flash distance limits for the employed film sensitivity.
