A device for detecting embolus uses ultrasonic signals reflected on a fluid flow in a body. The device features a first ultrasonic unit for receiving a first signal generated in a first position in a vessel and a second ultrasonic unit for additional reception of a second signal generated in a second position in the body. The device also features a detector unit for detecting the embolus. The detector unit is triggered only if the time interval between the characteristic changes in the first and second signal, corresponding to a possible embolus, exceeds a minimum value, or if the characteristic signal change occurs in one of the signals only.

The invention concerns an apparatus for viewing vessels, in particular blood vessels, in body cavities and hollow organs, comprising an ultrasonic transducer (,) which can be guided into a viewing position by means of an endoscopy device (,), an ultrasonic unit (,) which can be connected to the ultrasonic transducer (,) and which is based on the Doppler principle and which is designed to detect an organ and/or fluid movement at at least one predetermined spacing from the ultrasonic transducer, a Doppler evaluation unit (,) which is connected downstream of the ultrasonic unit (,) and which is designed for digital conversion of an output signal of the ultrasonic unit (,) into a visual representation of the organ and/or fluid movement at the at least one predetermined spacing, and a video output unit (,) which receives an output image signal of the Doppler evaluation unit (,) and an electronic image signal of the endoscopy device (,) and which is designed to produce a combined overall image (,) for a display screen which can show both an endoscopy image (,) and also at least one representation (,) of the organ and/or fluid movement.
