A sheet feeder of a sheet-fed rotary printing press is provided with loosening blowers having controllable blowing power and being disposed so as to be adjustable in height on a frame of the sheet feeder behind and at the sides of a pile of sheets and including a plurality of fans for directing an air flow against a side face of the pile of sheets, the air flow being adjustable angularly with respect to the side face.

A sheet feeder in a sheet-processing machine, comprising first blower nozzles for fanning and separating a top sheet of a sheet pile, the blower nozzles being directed at least at a rear edge of the top sheet in the sheet pile, a separating device for lifting the top sheet from the sheet pile, second blower nozzles for blowing supporting air under the top sheet in synchronism with an operating cycle of the sheet feeder, central blast-air supply system for the sheet feeder being connected to the first blower nozzles, and a blast-air source separate from the central blast-air supply system connected via a control valve to the second blower nozzles for supplying blast air thereto for supporting the sheet, and a device for operating the control valve in synchronism with the separating device.

A gripper device for a printing machine for handling sheet-shaped material with a gripper shaft swivellable about its longitudinal axis and a gripper finger firmly connected to the gripper shaft so that a gripper point thereof is movable away from a gripper support when the gripper shaft is swivelled in a first direction, is initially displaceable into contact with the gripper support when the gripper shaft is swivelled in a second direction opposite to the first direction, and is capable of exerting a holding force on the gripper support when the gripper shaft is swivelled farther in the second direction, and a device for adjusting contact between the gripper point and the gripper support includes a resilient section forming a part of the gripper finger and connected to the gripper point, the resilient section having neutral fibers and formed as at least one resilient rod extending substantially in the direction of a plane determined by the longitudinal axis of the gripper shaft and by the gripper point.

Disclosed are means and method for forming elastic connection between ceramic and metallic structural elements. The means comprises a ceramic structural element; a metallic structural element having thermal and elastic properties different from those of the ceramic structural element; and a connecting element connecting the ceramic and metallic structural elements and comprising an insulating resilient body of ceramic material having a thermal conductivity of between about 0.02 and 0.25 W/cmK at a temperature difference between the ceramic and metallic structural elements of from about 100 to 1500 Centigrade degrees, an elastic modulus of between about 5000 and 150,000 N/mm.sup.2 and being substantially free of plastic deformation.
