The biaxially stretch-oriented multi-layer tubular packaging casing for packaging pasty products, in particular the artificial sausage casing, includes a barrier layer having a reduced permeability to oxygen, an outer layer and an inner layer. The barrier layer comprises a partially aromatic polyamide and/or copolyamide, the outer and inner layers an aliphatic polyamide or copolyamide or a polymer mixture of at least one of the two compounds.

A single-layered, transparent, biaxially oriented, thermoset tubular food casing, in particular a synthetic sausage casing, based on polyamide, containing a mixture of a) a linear, aliphatic polyamide, b) a partially aromatic copolyamide, c) an acid-modified polyolefin and d) a pigment of a particle size from 0.01 to 15 .mu.m results in a casing having outstanding properties such as excellent water vapor resistance and excellent UV and visible light impermeability. A multi-layered tubular synthetic sausage casing which includes an outer polyamide layer, an inner polyolefin layer and an intermediate layer for mutually bonding the inner and outer layers. The inner polyolefin layer includes a copolymer comprised of units of ethylene, propylene or straight-chain alpha-olefins having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, or of a mixture of these copolymers. In a preferred embodiment, the polyolefin layer is comprised of an ethylene/propylene/butylene terpolymer and/or of a propylene/butylene copolymer.

Disclosed are asymmetrical macroporous membranes based on a synthetic polymer comprising a polymeric mixture of 5 to 70% by weight polyvinylpyrrolidone having a molecular weight .gtoreq.100,000 Dalton and 95 to 30% by weight of a polymer selected from a group consisting of a polysulfone, a polyether sulfone and an aromatic or araliphatic polyamide, each of the percentages by weight being relative to the total weight of the polymeric mixture. Macroporous asymmetrical hydrophilic membrane made of a synthetic polymer

Disclosed is a specific polyamide membrane suitable for hemofiltration, comprising a permselective asymmetric membrane of heteroporous structure comprising a polyamide which comprises a plurality of recurring terephthaloyldiamine units. The membrane has an ultrafiltration capacity of from about 1.5.SM.10.sup.-3 to about 15.multidot.10.sup.-3 cm/s.multidot.bar, determined for water at 0.1 bar and 20.degree. C., a thickness of not more than about 100 microns, and a molecular weight exclusion limit of from about 20,000 to about 70,000 Dalton. The membrane is produced in a process which comprises introducing a solution of the polyamide in a water-miscible organic solvent into an aqueous precipitating liquid to obtain a coagulated membrane sheet, which is subsequently washed and dried.
