A method of providing a cleaned gas diffusion layer for electrochemical applications includes providing a gas diffusion layer such that a first side of the gas diffusion layer is arranged on a first vacuum conveyor belt, cleaning an exposed second side of the gas diffusion layer, the second side being situated opposite the first side of the gas diffusion layer, transferring the partially cleaned gas diffusion layer to a second vacuum conveyor belt partially situated opposite the first vacuum conveyor belt, wherein the first vacuum conveyor belt and the second vacuum conveyor belt have a transfer region in which the gas diffusion layer is transferred from the first vacuum conveyor belt to the second vacuum conveyor belt such that the first side of the gas diffusion layer is exposed, and cleaning the first side of the gas diffusion layer.

A web-fed printing machine that is highly variable in terms of its configuration, provides a high degree of positioning accuracy of processing modules and has a cost-efficient machine frame, includes a plurality of the processing modules fixed to the machine frame. Each respective processing module is advantageously fixed to the machine frame by a respective carrier module. Every carrier module includes two parallel longitudinal beams extending in the machine direction and two parallel crossbars which are oriented at right angles to the longitudinal beams and which interconnect the two longitudinal beams.

A processing unit for rotational processing includes at least two processing cylinders and a machine frame. A first processing cylinder is movably mounted in the machine frame, a second processing cylinder is stationarily mounted in the machine frame and a pair of support members is provided for each respective processing cylinder. A respective support member of the second processing cylinder has a solid joint, a manipulator and an annular segment attached to the solid joint and contacting one support member of the first processing cylinder. A solid joint is linearly displaceable by the manipulator and an annular segment is linearly displaceable therewith. A gap dimension between the processing cylinders can therefore be adjusted in a simple, accurate manner with precise repeatability. A label printing machine having the processing unit is also provided.

A processing unit, for example a printing unit, for the rotational processing of a web-shaped or sheet-shaped substrate, includes a machine frame, at least a first processing cylinder movably mounted in the machine frame, a second processing cylinder stationarily mounted in the machine frame, and a pair of support members associated with each respective processing cylinder. Each support member of the second processing cylinder has an annular segment, a linear guide, a guide body fixed to the machine frame and a manipulator. Each annular segment contacts a respective support member of the first processing cylinder, and each annular segment is linearly displaceable along the linear guide by a respective manipulator. The processing unit permits a gap dimension between the processing cylinders of the processing unit to be adjustable in a simple, exact manner with precise repeatability. A label printing machine having the processing unit is also provided.

A device for punching labels from a substrate web having a carrier layer and a label layer includes a punching installation for punching labels. The punching installation has a delaminating installation for separating the label layer from the carrier layer, a metallic non-suction revolving counterpunching belt for conveying the label layer during a punching operation, and a relaminating installation for reconnecting the label layer, provided with punchings, to the carrier layer. A method for punching self-adhesive labels is also provided. In this way, a thin carrier layer can be used, and it is ensured that the carrier layer is not damaged during punching.

A flexographic printing unit includes an engraved roll, a form cylinder and an impression cylinder. Axes of rotation of the engraved roll and the form cylinder are disposed in a horizontal plane and axes of rotation of the form cylinder and the impression cylinder are disposed in a vertical plane. The printing unit has at least one knee lever system for applying a pretensioning force to the form cylinder. A compact printing unit includes a plate cylinder, an impression cylinder, and an ink applicator roller in a printing press, in particular a label printing press. In the printing unit, the plate cylinder is disengageable from cylinders contacting the plate cylinder for the purpose of format variation. The plate cylinder is pivotable about the impression cylinder about a pivot axis which is parallel to the axis of rotation of the impression cylinder and a distance between the axes of rotation of the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder is variable. A printing press and a method of producing labels or self-adhesive labels in a printing press are also provided.

A printing unit of compact construction includes an impression cylinder and a printing form cylinder to be pivoted around the impression cylinder about a pivot axis running parallel to an axis of rotation of the impression cylinder. A spacing between the axes of rotation of the printing form cylinder and of the impression cylinder can be varied and the printing form cylinder and the impression cylinder can be set against each other, to form a press nip in which a substrate can be printed. A first drive for producing a rotational movement of the printing form cylinder is connected to the printing form cylinder through a drive train. At least one component of the drive train has a torque axis running through the impression cylinder. A printing press having at least one printing unit and a process for producing labels or self-adhesive labels in a printing press, are also provided.
