A device, a user equipment, and methods for registering and authenticating the user equipment are provided, wherein the user equipment includes an image sensor, communication components for communicating with the device, control and processing components configured for acquiring at least one image by way of the image sensor, generating an authentication sensor fingerprint on the basis of the at least one acquired image, coding at least one portion of the authentication sensor fingerprint by way of a random projection algorithm, so as to generate at least one compressed portion (W') of the authentication sensor fingerprint, transmitting, through the communication components, the at least one compressed portion (W&#x2032;) to the device.

A decoder includes a memory storing a map of a space of encoded values. The map includes a plurality of cells partitioning the space, such that each cell encloses a cluster of encoded values and quantizes the cluster of encoded values to a quantized encoded value. Each cell is identified by a label selected from a finite alphabet, such that multiple cells in the map are identified by the same label, and the cells are labeled such that a pair of cells identified by the same label does not share a common boarder. Method and system for coding signals using distributed coding and non-monotonic quantization

A method reconstructs and an uncompressed signal by first obtaining an encoded signal corresponding to the uncompressed signal, wherein the encoded signal includes universally quantized dithered linear measurements of the signal, and wherein each universally quantized dithered linear measurement is a quantized dithered linear measurement of the signal missing one or more significant bits. Side information about the signal is obtained, and the side information is used to obtain a prediction of the signal. The missing one or more significant bits are determined from the encoded signal using the prediction of the signal and the missing one or more significant bits are combined with the encoded signal to produce quantized dithered linear measurements of the signal. Then, the signal can be reconstructed as a reconstructed signal using the quantized dithered linear measurements.
