In one example a method comprises causing, by a processor, a nozzle of a printhead to discharge a printing fluid droplet toward a drop detector and receiving, from the drop detector, by a processor, a signal indicative of the location of the discharged printing fluid droplet. The example method comprises determining, by a processor, whether the location of the discharged droplet matches a stored location of the nozzle corresponding to a print mode. The example method comprises issuing, by a processor, a signal based on the determination.

Printhead positions

Examples relate to capping stations having caps with positioning mechanism. The capping station for a printing system may comprise a cap to seal a printhead and a positioning mechanism to move the cap between a first cap position and a second cap position.

An optical sensor device () includes an application module () for applying an irregular pattern of marks to a surface of a medium and an optical detector module (). The optical detector module () acquires images of the applied marks and may determine an advancement speed of the medium based on the acquired images.

Disclosed herein is a device, a printing device and a method of operating a printing device. The device comprises an air flow path extending from an intake to an outlet. The intake is to be mounted in a printing device and comprises a proximal intake segment and a distal intake segment along the air flow path. A proximal air flow path from the proximal intake segment to the outlet is shorter than a distal air flow path from the distal intake segment to the outlet. Each of the proximal and distal intake segments comprises a wall segment with at least one hole. An opening ratio of an area of the at least one hole and an area of the respective wall segment is larger in the distal intake segment than in the proximal intake segment.

Aerosol management systems

A printer carriage comprises a sensor to be actuated when an actuation member coupled to the sensor contacts a raised portion in a printing target. A vertical position of the actuation member may be adjusted with respect to the printer carriage.

In an example, a printhead carriage to be used in a printing system is disclosed herewith wherein the carriage includes a pocket defined by a first wall and a second wall opposite to the first wall; a set of electrical connectors provided on the first wall; and a mechanical protector. In an example, the mechanical protector may be a sheet with a determined length that extends from the first wall into the pocket and a width that extends along the width of the first wall over the electrical connectors. In an example, the mechanical protector includes an elastic member biased towards the second wall.

Print-head carriages

An apparatus () for a large format printer () to support a spindle () of a roll of media comprises at least one supporting member () to support the weight of the spindle () when the spindle is loaded into the apparatus (). The apparatus also comprises a cradle () to support the spindle () as it is loaded onto or unloaded from the at least one supporting member (). The cradle () is moveable between a first position to receive the spindle () and a second position when the spindle is supported by the at least one supporting member (). The apparatus also comprises a shock absorbing member () in contact with the cradle (). The cradle moves between the first and second positions as the spindle () is loaded into the apparatus () and the shock absorbing member () absorbs kinetic energy of the cradle () as it moves from the first position to the second position.

Apparatuses for large format printers

A printer comprises a printing assembly for printing an image on a print media in a print zone; a cutting assembly for cutting the print media along a contour in a cut zone; wherein the print zone and the cut zone are distinct from one another, one of the zones being downstream of the respective other zone in a print media advance direction; a control unit controlling the printhead assembly and the cutting assembly to perform printing and cutting operations during a single print media feed. A method of printing, using said printer, comprises feeding the print media through the cut zone and through the print zone, in any order; and simultaneously printing an image and cutting a contour while the print media is being fed through the cut zone and through the print zone.
