The tailgate () or rear door for a motor vehicle with a rear window includes a single-piece main carrying structure () with a peripheral, flexurally resistant frame (), with an upper transverse beam (), two lateral longitudinal beams () and at least one lower transverse beam (). The main carrying structure consists of a fibre-reinforced moulding compound () with at least two impregnated, integrated continuous-fibre bands () and this moulding compound is non-positively connected to the rear window () and together with this forms a flexurally resistant structure. Thereby, the continuous-fibre bands () in sections are integrated into the frame () in an arrangement vertical (v) to the surface (H) of the tailgate, by way of the continuous-fibre bands () being arranged vertically to the surface (H) and/or at a vertical distance (d) to the surface (H).

A vehicle cell made of reinforced&#x2014;reinforced thermoplastic material includes a shape-defining, long-reinforced-reinforced thermoplastic matrix () with integrated continuos fiber strands or strips (). In a base structure (), which includes a base plate (), uninterrupted continuous fiber strands running longitudinally () in an upper base area (NO) and continuous fiber strands running longitudinally () in a lower base area (NU). The upper and the lower base areas are connected with vertical walls (). This results in an economically manufacturable, light-weight, rigid and safe vehicle cell.

Fiber-reinforced thermoplastic vehicle cell

A structural component of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic material has a shape-forming long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic matrix and separate, single load-bearing plastified and consolidated continuous fiber strands with a thermoplastic matrix in a defined position within the structural component. The positions of the shape forming long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic matrix and the separate, single load-bearing plastified and consolidated continuous fiber strands with a thermoplastic matrix define interfaces therebetween. The continuous fiber strands are interconnected and have at least one load-transmitting flat internal connecting area between two continuous fiber strands. The single continuous fiber strands form a load-bearing supporting structure which is integrated in and thermoplastically bonded to the long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic matrix at the interfaces therebetween.
