The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for verifying the consistency of the values given by an angle of attack probe of an aircraft. The method and apparatus verifies the proper operation of the angle of attack probe by using the aircraft's vertical load factor measurement provided by an accelerometer to estimate the angle of attack and then comparing the estimated angle of attach with the measure angle of attack.

An energy protecting device for three and four-engined aircraft includes a detecting unit configured to detect failure of each engine. A control unit is configured to provide a protective function by controlling maximum thrust of each engine. A triggering unit is configured to monitor a plurality of parameters and trigger the control unit to provide maximum thrust at predetermined conditions of the monitored parameters. An inhibiting unit is linked to the triggering unit and is configured to inhibit the protective function, when at least one of the engine on the wings of the aircraft has failed. The control unit is also configured to control the engines that have not failed to minimize thrust imbalance.

A method for automatically managing a lateral trajectory upon triggering an emergency descent includes determining a value of lateral offset and generating an offset setpoint by using the value of lateral offset. The generating an offset setpoint includes calculating a sum of the value of lateral offset and any initial value of lateral offset defined between a central axis of a protected sector that the aircraft travels along and an initial lateral trajectory. The offset setpoint is selected to be the smaller of the sum or a lateral offset maximum, which maintains the aircraft within the protected sector at all times. The aircraft is then operated to move the aircraft to the offset setpoint during the emergency descent, which helps avoid further air traffic that may be located at different altitude levels within the same protected sector, especially along the central axis.

Automatic management method and device of a lateral trajectory for an emergency descent of an aircraft

The device includes a calculation unit to automatically calculate an overall thrust moment of the engines which represents a thrust asymmetry of the engines of a multi-engine aircraft, a determination unit to automatically determine, using this overall moment, a maximum roll rate, and a limiting unit to automatically limit a roll command using this maximum roll rate.
