An example device may include an antenna node configured to be coupled to an antenna element. The antenna node may be configured to pass wireless communications over multiple frequency bands. The device may also include multiple signal paths coupled to the antenna node. Each of the multiple signal paths may be configured to carry a signal from a different one of the multiple frequency bands. The device may further include a switch element coupled to the antenna node by the multiple signal paths and an amplifier circuit within the multiple signal paths between the switch element and the antenna node. The amplifier circuit may be configured to amplify the signals carried by the multiple signal paths.

Wireless transceiver

An example method of wireless data transmission may include determining a configuration of multiple antenna element nodes. The configuration may indicate a frequency band of operation for each of the multiple antenna element nodes and the configuration may be determined based on one or more network factors of multiple frequency bands. The method may also include selecting, based on the configuration, a signal path to couple to each of the multiple antenna element nodes from multiple signal paths. The multiple signal paths may each be configured to amplify signals carried thereon and at least two of the multiple signal paths may be coupled between each antenna element node and a common node. The method may further include directing, based on the configuration, wireless communications over the multiple antenna element nodes.

Wireless data transmission

An adaptable LDO regulator includes an error amplifier providing an error voltage according to a difference between a feedback voltage and a reference voltage, first and second pass transistors each having a first current electrode for receiving an input voltage, a control electrode for receiving the error voltage, and a second current electrode, the second current electrode of the second pass transistor providing an output voltage, a voltage divider generating the feedback voltage in response to a voltage on an input thereof, and a mode selection network that in a closed loop mode, couples the second current electrodes of the first and second pass transistors together and to the input of the voltage divider, and in an open loop mode, couples the second current electrode of the first pass transistor to the input of the voltage divider and decouples the second current electrodes of the first and second pass transistors.

Adaptable low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator and method therefor

A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless transceiver with 'N' transmit and receive chains and a bandwidth evaluation circuit, a chain partitioning circuit and a switchable radio frequency 'RF' filter bank. The bandwidth evaluation circuit evaluates both the utilization of the WLAN(s) and any remaining communications channels and determines whether to operate the MIMO chains synchronously as a single radio or asynchronously as multiple radios. The chain partitioning circuit either partitions subsets of the MIMO chains for asynchronous operation as distinct radios or combines all MIMO chains for synchronous operation as a single radio. The switchable RF filter bank is responsive to a partitioning of subsets of the chains into distinct radios to add RF filters to a RF portion of the chains to isolate each radio from one another, and responsive to a combining of all MIMO chains into a single radio to remove all RF filters.

Transmutable MIMO wireless transceiver

A transceiver apparatus for wireless communication includes components coupled to one another to form transmit chains for wireless communications. The components forming the transmit chains include power amplifiers (PA)s each coupled at a respective signal input to a corresponding one of the transmit chains for amplifying radio frequency (RF) signals of a wireless communication link and each power amplifier having a supply voltage input for powering the power amplifier, voltage sources having distinct voltage levels, and PA supply voltage detectors each coupled at an input to an associated one of the transmit chains to detect changes in an amplitude of the signal on each transmit chain. The transceiver apparatus includes a link power circuit coupled to the PA supply voltage detectors, the link power circuit to determine maximum voltage levels to be applied to the supply voltage inputs of the PAs.

Regulated switch banks for driving transmit power amplifiers of a MIMO wireless transceiver

An integrated circuit comprising: a substrate; a configurable tank circuit on the substrate, the configurable tank circuit including: a first pair of inductive loops driven in parallel in each of a first configuration and a second configuration, each of the inductive loops in the first pair enclosing a corresponding capacitive element connected in parallel with that inductive loop; a second pair of inductive loops driven in parallel with the first pair of loops in the second configuration, the second pair of inductive loops undriven in the first configuration; and a switch arrangement that alternately places the configurable tank circuit into either of the first and second configurations; and an oscillation driver that drives the configurable tank circuit at a tunable resonance frequency.

Broad range voltage-controlled oscillator

A wireless transceiver including: antennas, components forming transmit and receive chains coupled to the antennas for MIMO communications, voltage sources, power amplifier supply voltage detectors and regulated switches. The components forming the transmit chains include power amplifiers (PA)s each coupled to a corresponding one of the transmit chains for amplifying RF signals of a MIMO communication link and each PA having a supply voltage input. The PA supply voltage detectors each couple to an associated one of the transmit chains to detect changes in an amplitude of the signal thereon and to identify required changes in the supply voltage level of the corresponding PA for transmission of the signal. The regulated switches couple the voltage sources and PAs, and are responsive to each PA's supply voltage detector to switchably couple the supply voltage input of each PA to the voltage sources providing the identified voltage levels during transmission.

A differential elliptic filter circuit includes: a differential amplifier, feedback and feedforward paths. An upper pair and a lower pair of inverting feedback paths couple a corresponding one the differential signal outputs of the amplifier to an inverting one of a pair of inputs of the amplifier, to provide two complex conjugate poles, and establish upper and lower virtual grounds at the amplifier inputs. Upper and lower inverting feedforward paths couple corresponding passive nodes of the upper and lower pairs of inverting feedback paths to respectively the lower and upper virtual grounds to provide two zeros of the circuit. The upper and lower non-inverting feedforward paths couple an upper and lower one of a pair of differential signal inputs of the circuit to respectively the upper and lower virtual grounds to enable positioning of the two zeros of the circuit on an imaginary axis of a pole-zero plot.

An image rejection mixer includes a first mixer, a second mixer, a first output adjust circuit, and a second output adjust circuit. The first mixer is coupled to receive an input RF signal and a local oscillator signal and includes a first mixer stage and a first output load stage. The second mixer is coupled to receive the input RF signal and a phase-converted local oscillator signal and includes a second mixer stage and a second output load stage. The first output adjust circuit is coupled to the first output load stage for modifying the signal waveform of a first output signal of the first mixer. The second output adjust circuit is coupled to the second output load stage for modifying the signal waveform of a second output signal of the second mixer. In this manner, the near-perfect image rejection result in the final IF signal can be obtained.

A television receiver includes a frequency conversion circuit, an analog-to-digital converter, a signal processor, and a signal output circuit. The frequency conversion circuit receives an input RF signal in one of several television signal formats and converts the input RF signal to an intermediate frequency signal. The analog-to-digital converter samples the intermediate frequency signal and generates a digital representation thereof. The signal processor processes the digital representation of the intermediate frequency signal in accordance with the television signal format of the input RF signal and generates digital output signals indicative of information encoded in the input RF signal. Finally, the signal output circuit receives the digital output signals from the signal processor and provides one or more output signals corresponding to the digital output signals. The signal output circuit can be configured to provide output signals corresponding to an analog television format or a digital television format or both.

Television receiver for digital and analog television signals

A tuner circuit includes a band selection filter coupled to receive an input RF signal and provide a band selected output signal where the band selection filter includes a bank of band pass filters. Each band pass filter includes an inductor and a variable capacitor forming an LC resonator where the inductor is an integrated planar spiral inductor. The tuner circuit further includes a frequency conversion circuit coupled to receive an input signal corresponding to the band selected output signal and provide a frequency converted output signal having a predetermined frequency. The integrated planar spiral inductor can be formed using a single metal spiral or multiple metal spirals. In a multi-spiral structure, a first metal spiral having an inward spiral pattern and a second metal spiral having an outward spiral pattern to form an inductor with large inductance, low series resistance and high Q values, even at low frequency.
