A disposable reamer is provided, made up of a base and a thin-walled, perforated cutting body of flat metal stock affixed thereto. The base and body may be molded together or assembled together in a mechanical manner. The body is optionally formed so as to comprise a plurality of appendages connected at a center so as to improve die forming of the body into a final desired shape while at the same time minimizing stress-induced deformation in the body.

Disclosed is a guided orthopedic bone reamer () for cutting a profile relief shape () into a joint bone (). The reamer () has a cutting head () and an axial guide assembly (). The cutting head () has a profile cutting form () with a rim () and an apex (). The apex () connects to the cutting form () by a set of struts (). An axial guide assembly () has one end () fixed to the apex () and at the other end has a bayonet mechanism () connectable to a drive handle. Rim cutting teeth () are set into the rim () to cut a cylindrical profile (), and bevel cutting teeth () integral to the struts () cut a bevel () onto the cylindrical form () cut into the bone (). A guide pin bore () passes through the apex () and the guide assembly () concentric with the axis of rotation () to receive a guide pin () to guide the reamer () in cutting alignment relative to the joint bone () to be cut.

A guided reamer () has a central cannulation () adapted to receive a drill pin () secured in a manner which is axially aligned with the stem () of the bulbus bone joint (). The reamer ()has a profile cutting form () with cutting teeth () formed therein for cutting a form of a defined profile. The reamer () has a circumferential rim () having rim cutting teeth () disposed to cut to an outside of the rim and an inside of the rim, having face cutting teeth () adapted to cut an annular channel into bone and a plurality of planing teeth () radially disposed on an internal surface adjacent an axial end boss (). The cannulation () is supported at the apex of the cutting form () and is formed in a guide assembly (') affixed to the apex. The guide assembly (&#x2032;) is adapted for imparting rotation to the reamer (). The reamer () is adapted to be supported by a cannulated reamer handle () having a bayonet locking device () capable of locking the handle () to the guide assembly (&#x2032;) of the cannulated reamer () and a corresponding central cannulation (), permitting the drill pin () to pass at least part way therethrough.
