A downhole tool operable for conveyance within a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation, and for obtaining one or more measurements of the subterranean formation, wherein the downhole tool comprises a sensor, a pressure housing containing the sensor and mounted on an external surface of the downhole tool, and a sliding stabilizer covering the pressure housing.

A stabilizer assembly comprising a tubular member, a stabilizer sleeve slidably disposed about the tubular member, and a plurality of round members each disposed between the stabilizer sleeve and the tubular member. The stabilizer sleeve may comprise a plurality of round cavities each located in an inner surface of the stabilizer sleeve. Each of the plurality of round members may be disposed within a corresponding one of the plurality of round cavities. The stabilizer assembly may be coupled between opposing first and second portions of a downhole drill string.

In order to enable information such as the results of physical measurements performed downhole in an oil well during testing or production to be transmitted in real time to a receiver on the surface, the bottom portion of a tubular string (12) is fitted with a transmitter device that transmits an electromagnetic wave which is conveyed to the receiver on the surface by the ground surrounding the well. The transmitter device includes a power source (32) disposed in an annular cavity (34) formed at an intermediate level between an outer insulating coupling (36) and an inner insulating coupling (38). The power source (32) is electrically connected between two tubular walls (39, 40) delimiting the cavity (34) so as to apply a modulated alternating electrical signal directly to said walls.
