A remote control unit for controlling a plurality of automatic devices for opening and closing a plurality of garage doors, parking garage gates, private residence fences, and the like is located on the ceiling of a vehicle at the sun visor. The remote control unit has switches for activating each of the plurality of automatic opening and closing devices. The remote control unit may be accommodated in a recess formed in the vehicle ceiling or in a recess formed in the visor connected to the vehicle ceiling when the visor is in its non-use position. Alternatively, the remote control unit may be shaped so as to correspond to a shape of a portion of the visor and be attached to the vehicle ceiling so that the remote control unit surrounds a periphery of the visor portion. In addition, the remote control unit may be formed integrally with or adapted to receive a visor support bracket which is attached to the vehicle ceiling. The remote control unit may be powered by the vehicle electric system or by a battery. The unit transmits radio signals to receivers contained in the automatic devices.

Remote control unit for installation in vehicle

A sun visor for a vehicle window, particularly a side window thereof, includes a sun visor body fastened at its top to a top profiled strip and at its bottom to a bottom support in the form of a spring bar. The bottom support is movable so as to bring the sun visor body from a collapsed non-use position to a spread out use position and vice versa. The visor body is comprised of a series of strips which together define a fan like body. A swing lever is pivoted to one end of the profiled strip and includes a guide web extending along the length of the swing lever. One end region of the bottom support for the visor body is received in a displacable manner along the guide web so that swinging of the swing lever moves the guide web which moves the bottom support to move the visor body between its use and non-use positions. The end of the bottom support away from the swing lever is fixed to the top profiled strip. An over center spring arrangement on the swing lever assures that the visor body swings completely between the non-use and use positions.
