A network model includes nodes, node property sets, authorization groups and authorization servers. The node property sets define how the nodes operate and authenticate. The nodes are member of the node property sets. The authorization groups are associated with the node property set. And, authorization servers are member of the authorization groups. In addition, a network model in a secure network environment has at least one community of interest. The network model includes at least one node being a member of a node property set that defines how the node operates and authenticates.

A method of creating secure endpoints on a network includes registering by a node using a random selection algorithm to choose which server to register to; receiving by the node a property set ID of a property set that the node is a member of; and authorizing by the node using the property set ID to look up its authorization details in the property set. Method of creating secure endpoints on a network

In general, an appliance that simplifies the creation of a cluster in a computing environment has a fairly straightforward user interface that abstracts out many of the complexities of the typical configuration processes, thereby significantly simplifying the deployment process. By using such appliance, system administrators can deploy an almost turn-key cluster and have the confidence of knowing that the cluster is well tuned for the application/environment that it supports. In addition, the present disclosure allows for configurations and integrations of specialty engines, such as Q processors or J processors, into the cluster. The disclosure provides systems and methods for configuring a cluster, managing a cluster, managing an MQ in a cluster, a user interface for configuring and managing the cluster, an architecture for using specialty engines in a cluster configuration, and interconnect between cluster components, and a file system for use in a cluster.

An interconnect for enabling a component in a transaction processing environment to request, as part of a global transaction under the control of a transaction manager that is not XATMI-compliant, a resource on a remote server outside of that environment that is under the control of an XATMI-compliant transaction manager, comprises a resource manager and a connection manager. The resource manager has a first interface that receives XATMI service requests from the component and a second interface that receives directives issued by the first transaction manager for the global transaction. The resource manager (i) translates the XATMI service requests and directives into corresponding service requests of a bi-directional two-phase commitment communications protocol, (ii) issues the corresponding service requests to a protocol machine of the connection manager, and (iii) coordinates the processing of the corresponding service requests by the protocol machine with the processing of corresponding events in the transaction processing environment of the first transaction manager. The resource manager further comprises (i) means for mapping a first identifier that identifies the global transaction within the transaction processing environment of the first transaction manger to a second identifier that uniquely identifies the transaction within the protocol machine, (ii) means for maintaining a record for each branch of the transaction in which information relating thereto is stored, and (iii) means for logging together, in a secure storage, recovery information for both the transaction processing environment of the first transaction manager and the protocol machine.

Methods and apparatus for enabling a component in a first transaction

Multiple OSI TP service requests to which a particular AP-CRM interface call is mapped, and which are normally processed as individual events by an OSI TP protocol machine that conforms to the OSI TP Protocol Specification, are concatenated and processed by a modified OSI TP protocol machine as a single, atomic event. In this manner, performance and throughput are increased, while still maintaining conformance with the OSI TP Standard. Processing of OSI TP service requests will thus be optimized for the particular AP-CRM interface that the distributed transaction processing system supports. A new CRM-OSI TP programming interface is provided in place of the standard XAP-TP programming interface. The new interface maps each service of the particular AP-CRM interface to a respective, single service request of the new interface. Each service request of the new interface represents a concatenation of the OSI TP services to which the corresponding service of the particular AP-CRM is normally mapped.
