The present invention relates to a composition comprising (i) at least 10 wt % of an inorganic and/or organic, water soluble salt, based on the total weight of the composition; (ii) water; and (iii) an ether monocarboxylic acid. Further aspects of the invention relate to the use of an ether monocarboxylic acid of the invention, an amide, a salt or an ester thereof as a lubricant preferably in salt based drilling systems.

Hydrophilic ether carboxylic acids as lubricant for salt based drilling systems

The present invention relates to environmental friendly well treatment fluids comprising water and/or an organic phase and an ester obtainable by reacting a polycarboxylic acid with a hydroxy monocarboxylic acid. The invention also relates to the use of said ester as viscosifier and/or corrosion inhibitor for a well treatment fluid and preferably for a well treatment fluid for offshore well drilling.

Environmental friendly well treatment fluids comprising an ester

The present invention relates to new ether carboxylic acids as high temperature stable rheology modifier, viscosifier, lubricant or emulsifier additives in oilfield and industrial applications. In particular, the invention relates to an ether carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof obtainable by reacting a branched polyol alkoxylate with a halogen carboxylic acid or a halogen carboxylic acid derivative. Further aspects of the invention relate to a lubricant composition comprising an ether carboxylic acid of the invention and the use of said ether carboxylic acid.

Additives for oilfield and industrial applications

The present invention relates to an emulsion comprising at least (a) an organic phase, (b) a water phase and (c) an ester based on an ether carboxylic acid and an alcohol. Also within the ambit of the invention is the use of an ester as defined in (c) as emulsifier, as a thickening agent and/or as an anti-foaming agent in particular in drilling emulsions and metal working fluids.

The present invention relates to an emulsion, consisting of an oil phase and an aqueous phase and comprising as emulsion components (&#x3b1;1) 15 to 40% by weight of at least one water-immiscible organic solvent as solvent of the oil phase, (&#x3b1;2) 15 to 40% by weight of water as solvent of the aqueous phase, (&#x3b1;3) 10 to 40% by weight of at least one surfactant, (&#x3b1;4) 10 to 40% by weight of an alkoxylated fatty alcohol and (&#x3b1;5) 0 to 25% by weight of at least one other additive, wherein the quantities by weight of the components (&#x3b1;1) to (&#x3b1;5) are each relative to the total weight of the emulsion, and together add up to 100% by weight. The invention further relates to a method for producing an emulsion, to the emulsion which can be obtained from said method, to the use of an emulsion, to a method for cleaning the surfaces of well holes, drilling devices or drillings, to a method for producing a well bore, and to a method for producing an oil or a gas.
