A tibial prosthesis includes a tibial platform having a medial-lateral center and an inferior surface matable with a resected proximal tibia, and a modular keel that is fixable to the inferior surface and adjustable in a medial-lateral direction with respect to the medial-lateral center of the tibial platform.

A surgical assembly for preparing a tibia for implantation of a prosthetic implant includes a tray trial adapted to be secured to a proximal end of the tibia. The tray trial includes a plate having a plate opening defined therein. The plate opening has a center point. The surgical assembly also includes a first guide adapted to be secured to the tray trial. The first guide has a guide opening defined therein. The guide opening has a first bushing-receiving portion and a second bushing-receiving portion which is distinct from the first bushing-receiving portion. The surgical assembly also includes a drill bushing positionable in either the first bushing-receiving portion of the guide opening or the second bushing-receiving portion of the guide opening. The drill bushing has a bushing bore extending therethrough. The bushing bore has a center point. The center point of the bushing bore of the drill bushing is offset from the center point of the plate opening of the tray trial in a first direction when the drill bushing is positioned in the first bushing-receiving portion of the guide opening. The center point of the bushing bore of the drill bushing is offset from the center point of the plate opening of the tray trial in a second direction when the drill bushing is positioned in the second bushing-receiving portion of the guide opening. A method of surgically preparing a tibia for implantation of a prosthetic implant is also disclosed.

A modular orthopaedic clamping tool system includes a clamp and a plurality of modular tools. The clamp has a handle having substantially parallel first and second actuation members with a jaw member integral with the first actuation member and a modular attachment element integral with the second actuation member. A linkage connects the first and second actuation members and operates to maintain a substantially parallel orientation between the actuation members while the clamp moves between open and closed positions. In addition, the orthopaedic clamping tool may be locked without causing an excessive clamping force on a clamped bone.

An orthopedic reaming instrument has a generally cylindrical housing having a first end and an opposed second end, an elongate shaft extending from the first end and a removable and replaceable cutting disc disposed at the second end. The housing has a slot defined in the second end that is transverse to a longitudinal axis of the instrument and divides the second end into two spaced apart wall members having arcuate outer surfaces and opposed spaced apart inner surfaces. The cutting disc has at least one cutting edge disposed thereon and is shaped so as to mate with the wall members. A removable and replaceable drill bit may also be provided which extends from a bore in the slot through an aperture in the cutting disc.

This invention pertains to a universal hand piece such as a stationary handle or a slap hammer with a universal quick release connector which attaches and detaches to various instruments used in a knee prosthesis implantation surgical procedure. Instrument end pieces to which the hand piece may attach may include, for example, punches, inserters, extractors, impactors, or other instruments in which use of a hand piece is desired.

An instrument for orthopedic surgery comprising a block or cutting guide having a recess, and at least one locking device located on the cutting guide. The locking device is selectively movable between a first position in which a portion of the locking device covers a portion of the recess and a second position in which the recess is unobstructed. A bushing having a portion adapted to removably and replaceably mate with the recess on the cutting guide is also disclosed. The instrument is particularly useful for distal femoral augmentation in knee revision surgery.

A punch system is provided for preparing a keel cavity in a tibial bone for implantation of a prosthesis. The system provides a modular punch system providing a logical step-to-step approach to cutting, punching, and/or forming the tibial bone. The system of a preferred embodiment includes a quick release punch guide for attaching to a tibial tray trial component of a surgical instrument system for implanting artificial knees, and a universal quick release handle for attaching or detaching a punch from a handle or slap hammer.

An improved femoral locating device and system is provided including an angularly adjustable locking alignment portion for appropriately aligning the posterior end of the locator. Another feature of the system provides a cutting block moveable from distal to proximal or proximal to distal to alter the thickness of the cut and holding it securely once the thickness of the cut is determined. Finally, another feature of the system includes the ability to raise and lower the cutting block without changing the valgus angle.
