A method for assisting in position determination in a wireless communication system comprises obtaining (S) of pairs of radio frequency environment data sets for each of a plurality of common positions. A pair of radio frequency environment data sets comprises radio frequency environment data of devices of a first access technology and a second access technology at a common position. A transformation operator is created (S) based on the pairs. The transformation operator represents a relation between radio frequency environment data sets of the first and second access technology. A method for position determination in a wireless communication system based on transformation operator and network nodes therefore is also disclosed, as well as network nodes for performing the methods.

Positioning in wireless communication networks

A method implemented at a location server is proposed. The method comprises: deciding inter-frequency measurement information for positioning a user equipment, UE, wherein the inter-frequency measurement information comprises at least one frequency other than a frequency of a serving cell of the UE; sending a first measurement request containing the inter-frequency measurement information to an access node of the serving cell; receiving a first measurement result from the access node; and determining a position of the UE based on the measurement result.

Method and apparatus for fingerprinting positioning

The present disclosure provides a method in a network device. The method includes: obtaining a node configuration associated with a set of Transmitting/Receiving Points, TRPs; selecting, from the set of TRPs, one or more IAB TRPs associated with a terminal device based on the node configuration and similarity metrics between an initial position estimate and historical positioning results for the terminal device; and transmitting a measurement request to a serving TRP associated with the terminal device and each of the one or more IAB TRPs; receiving, from each of the serving TRP and at least one of the one or more IAB TRPs, a measurement report indicating a Timing Advance, TA, associated with that TRP and the terminal device.

Method and network device for terminal device positioning with integrated access backhaul

Methods and devices for performing hybrid fingerprinting/observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) positioning are described. Fingerprinting information can be used to improve OTDOA results by using the fingerprinting information to generate OTDOA assistance information. The OTDOA assistance information is sent to a user equipment, which uses the OTDOA assistance information to perform reference signal time differences (RSTDs) measurements.

Hybrid fingerprinting/OTDOA positioning techniques and systems

Positioning user equipment served by a base station in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method comprises obtaining a timing value used by the user equipment for timing adjustment of uplink signal transmission and a timing bias used for adjusting the timing value. The method also comprises adjusting the timing value based on the timing bias. The method further comprises determining the position of the user equipment based on the adjusted timing value, wherein the timing bias is associated with at least one difference between at least one timing value obtained from at least one previous user equipment served by the base station and at least one timing value obtained from the base station with respect to the at least one previous user equipment. By means of the method and device, the positioning of the user equipment can be accurately achieved and less overhead could be incurred.

Method and device for positioning user equipment

Machine-to-machine (M2M) devices are used to enable the automatic collection of fingerprint data without human intervention at various locations in a wireless communication system. A location server receives fingerprint data collected by one or more M2M devices positioned at fixed locations in the wireless communication system, and stores the fingerprint data received for each of the one or more M2M devices in the location database to associate the received fingerprint data with the fixed location of the corresponding M2M device. The collected fingerprint data characterizes the radio environment at the fixed location of the corresponding M2M device, where each M2M device corresponds to one fixed location in a fingerprint grid.
