Disclosed is a mechanism that provides the extensions of PCEP message and the objects to support PCECC with P2MP capability in downloading the labels for branch node of P2MP TE LSPs. In one implementation, various embodiments provide an apparatus, a system, a node and a method that receives a PCLabelUpd message with all the extensions and the objects to support PCECC with P2MP capability, detects the object and identifies that the label download is for P2MP TE LSP and for this LSP. In those embodiments, the apparatus/the system/the node acts as a branch node, and thereby the apparatus/the system/the node downloads all the labels specified in the object to data plane with respect to any existing branch node download mechanism for a P2MP TE LSP.

Multicast (P2MP) support for path computation element central controller (PCECC)

A communications method enables a path computation element (PCE) to notify path computation clients (PCCs) about the shared resources of independent label switch paths by allowing a PCE to send an association object with a new association type to PCC. A PCE Communication Protocol extension that associates label-switched paths (LSPs) whose ingress, or egress, or both ingress and egress are different for resource sharing to avoid path computation failures or duplicate allocation of resources during common links for new LSPs created during an update of end-to-end (E2E) LSP. The PCC employs Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) for LSP signalling, PCC forwards path message information along with association object to the RSVP for LSP signalling. The RSVP uses the association object in its reservation message for LSP setup.

Communication methods, apparatuses and system for sharing network resources

A method for establishing end-to-end tunnels extending across multiple domains using a network element. The method includes receiving a request from a customer controller to implement a virtual network (VN) created by the customer controller, wherein the VN identifies the end-to-end tunnels extending across the multiple domains, mapping the VN to available resources based on network constraints in response to the request, and transmitting, after the VN has been mapped, a message to a network controller managing one of the domains that includes a network path used to form a portion of one of the end-to-end tunnels, wherein the message includes an association object having a Type-Length-Value (TLV) field containing a virtual network identifier binding the network path to the VN.

Method of establishing relationships between sets of label switched paths and virtual networks

A method implemented by a central controller is provided. The method includes receiving traffic monitoring information from a client, and sending a traffic monitor request to a network controller, the traffic monitor request requesting the network controller to monitor one or more traffic parameters based on the traffic monitoring information. The method further includes receiving a traffic report from the network controller, and responsive to determining that a monitored traffic parameter in the traffic report does not satisfy a condition specified by the traffic monitoring information, initiating a scaling operation based on data contained in the traffic report.

A customer network controller (CNC) including a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to use a virtual private network (VPN)-specific service model for a VPN service and map the VPN-specific service model to one or more traffic engineering (TE)-specific parameters. The memory is coupled to the processor and configured to store a mapping between a VPN identification (ID) of the VPN service corresponding to the VPN-specific service model and a tunnel ID of either an existing TE tunnel or newly-established TE tunnel for the VPN service. The existing TE tunnel or the newly established TE tunnel satisfies the one or more TE-specific parameters.

Traffic engineering service mapping

A CNC includes a processor configured to import a VPN-specific service model for a VPN service and map the VPN-specific service model to one or more TE-specific parameters. The CNC includes a memory coupled to the processor and configured to store a mapping between a VPN ID of the VPN service and a tunnel ID of a TE tunnel established for the VPN service. The TE tunnel satisfies the one or more TE-specific parameters.

A method of establishing an end-to-end tunnel for a virtual network extending across multiple domains using a first network controller element managing a first domain is provided. The method includes receiving a request from a second network controller element managing the first network controller element for an intra-domain locally-learned tunnel identifier (LLTI), sending an instruction to an egress network element of the first domain to generate the intra-domain LLTI in accordance with the request, receiving the intra-domain LLTI from the egress network element in accordance with the instruction, and sending the intra-domain LLTI to an ingress network element of the first domain. A method of establishing an end-to-end tunnel for a virtual network extending across multiple domains using an inter-domain LLTI is provided.

Stitching multi-domain LSPs in hierarchical SDN architecture

The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for transmitting packet in a Virtual Network. In the method, an access switch receives a Layer 3 packet carrying a VNID (Virtual Network IDentifier) from a VM in a remote Data Center. The access switch determines a DN (Designated Node) corresponding to the VNID and generates a Layer 2 frame according to the Layer 3 packet, where the Layer 2 frame includes the MAC (Media Access Control) address of the DN. The access switch to the DN transmits the Layer 2 frame according to the MAC address of the DN such that the DN determines a Layer 3 destination address according to the Layer 2 frame. This avoids packet flooding in Data Center when VM was migrated.
