A collapsible link device includes a side frame, a carrier, a main contact arm, a plurality of collapsible links, and a release mechanism. The carrier is pivotably coupled to the side frame. The main contact arm is pivotably coupled to the carrier and includes a first end including a first electrical contact. The plurality of collapsible links are pivotably coupled to the side frame and the carrier. The release mechanism is pivotably coupled to at least one of the collapsible links and the carrier. The plurality of collapsible links are movable between an uncollapsed position in which the first electrical contact contacts a second electrical contact and a collapsed position that results from the first electrical contact separating from the second electrical contact.

Collapsible links for circuit breakers, systems, and methods of use thereof

A circuit breaker housing assembly is disclosed. The housing () includes a first housing piece () defining a first interior surface () including a first mating surface (), and a second housing piece () defining a second interior surface () including a second mating surface () which is opposingly coupled to the first mating surface to define a seam () therebetween. An adhesive material () is disposed between the corresponding first and second mating surfaces along the seam. A moveable contact is disposed in the housing and is selectively moveable with respect to a corresponding stationary contact. The first and second interior surfaces () further cooperatively define a first recess () therebetween, and the moveable contact assembly is disposed in said first recess.

A circuit breaker, and method of assembling the circuit breaker, includes a circuit breaker housing defining an interior portion, and which includes a molded base and a separable cover. The molded base includes an interior surface and an exterior surface. The exterior surface of the molded base is operatively disposed outside of the interior portion of the circuit breaker housing, and the exterior surface of the base defines at least one current sensing unit receiving cavity configured to receive a current sensing unit therein. The molded base and separable cover are cooperatively disposed to surround the interior portion of the circuit breaker housing.

A circuit breaker includes an electrically insulative case and a rotor assembly disposed within the electrically insulative case. The rotor assembly includes a contact arm and a rotor that is rotatable relative to the electrically insulative case. The contact arm is coupled to the rotor and movable between a first position in which a conductive path is closed and a second position in which the conductive path is open. The rotor assembly also includes a latch mechanism coupled to the rotor. The latch mechanism retains the contact arm in the second position during a short circuit event. The latch mechanism is spaced from the contact arm when the contact arm is in the first position. The latch mechanism engages the contact arm when the contact arm is in the second position.

A circuit breaker crossbar assembly includes a crossbar having a first and second segment, the first and second segment each operatively coupled to a respective moveable contact arm assembly. Also included is a coupling segment disposed between the first and second segment, the crossbar and the coupling segment rotatable about an axis. Further included is at least one support assembly operatively coupled to the coupling segment. The support assembly includes a bushing coupled to the coupling segment and rotatable with the crossbar and the coupling segment. The support assembly also includes a support bracket configured for affixation to a stationary structure and disposed adjacent to the bushing, the bushing rotatable relative to the support bracket. The support assembly further includes a fixing bracket engaged with the support bracket and disposed adjacent to the bushing, the bushing rotatable relative to the fixing bracket.
