An analyzer resource receives density information indicating mobile device usage in each of multiple geographical regions. The analyzer resource further receives resource information indicating locations of physical network resources available to support installation of wireless access points in the geographical regions and the location of any existing wireless access points already installed. The analyzer resource then uses at least the density information and the resource information to produce a respective metric for each of the multiple geographical regions. The respective metric for a corresponding geographical region indicates a desirability of installing a respective wireless access point in the corresponding geographical region. Further disclosed embodiments herein include generating a respective map indicating in which respective geographical regions it is desirable to install a respective wireless access point.

Wireless network installation analyzer and reporting

An analyzer resource receives usage information collected by an application executing in a roaming mobile device; the usage information indicates geographical regions (and potentially specific locations) in which the roaming mobile communication device wirelessly accesses a remote network (such as the Internet) using any of one or more different wireless access services. The analyzer resource is further operable to receive resource information indicating locations of physical network resources available to support installation of wireless access points in the geographical regions and the location of any existing wireless access points already installed. The analyzer resource then uses at least the application-collected usage information and the resource information to identify where to install at least one new wireless access point. A system and method for managing performance of a mobile device. A current runtime list and a measure of performance are determined. A request to execute a new application not on the current runtime list is received. A determination is made whether executing the new application will cause the performance measure to be equal to or less than a threshold level. When executing the new application will cause the performance measure to be equal to or less than a threshold level, the request to execute the new application is declined.

A system and method for anonymously capturing network usage data from a mobile device. A first host device includes a first processor coupled to a first memory and a first datastore. A second host device includes a second processor coupled to a second memory and second and third datastores. The first host device receives personal identifying information and demographic information of a user and stores them in association with a unique identifier. The second datastore stores the demographic information of the user received from the first datastore and a mobile device identifier of the mobile device in association with the unique identifier. The device identifier is double hashed to create an obfuscated double hash identifier (ODHID). The third datastore receives mobile device and device identifier data and stores the data and the demographic information in a folder associated with the ODHID.
