In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, an engine (e.g., an aircraft turbine engine) can include a turbine mounted to a turbine shaft to rotate the turbine. A starter system can include a starter circuit, for example for powering the starter system to start the engine. More specifically, the starter circuit can be configured to provide power to an electric machine (e.g., an electric motor capable of also acting as a generator) coupled to the turbine shaft to drive the engine.

Engine starter circuits for electric machines

A position sensing system includes a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) to provide a first output voltage and a second output voltage. The position sensing system also includes two precision rectifiers. Each of the precision rectifiers comprises only operational amplifiers and resistors and obtains the first output voltage or the second output voltage as an input and to provide a full-wave rectified output.

Signal conditioning in a position sensing system

A ratiometric temperature measurement system includes a sensing circuit to measure a temperature and a controller to determine a resistance corresponding to the sensing circuit. The sensing circuit includes a temperature sensing circuit and a current sensor. The sensing circuit utilize an electrical current to output a first voltage indicative of a first voltage differential across the temperature sensing circuit and to output a second voltage indicative of a second voltage differential across the current sensor. The controller is configured to determine a resistance corresponding to the temperature sensing circuit based at least in part on the first and second voltage differentials. The controller determines a temperature value indicative of the measured temperature based on the resistance.

Aspects include a transformer comprising a first primary winding and a first secondary winding, a DC to DC converter, a saturable reactor coupled to an output of the first secondary winding and an input to the DC to DC converter, and a controlled current source coupled to a node between the saturable reactor and the input of the DC to DC converter, wherein the controlled current source is configured to provide a current rate based on an output voltage of the DC to DC converter, wherein a first filter inductor of the DC to DC converter is magnetically coupled to a second filter inductor of a second DC to DC converter.

Critical load management in secondary winding in auxiliary power supply

An aircraft power system includes a front-end power converter and a back-end power converter. The front-end power converter is configured to generate a first direct current (DC) supply voltage or a second DC supply voltage based on a voltage level of an alternating current (AC) supply voltage output from an AC voltage source. The backend power converter sub-system is configured to convert the first DC supply voltage or the second DC supply voltage into a backend supply voltage. An active power distribution system is configured to select different electrical paths between the front-end converter and the backend converter subsystem in response to detecting output of the first DC supply voltage and the second DC supply voltage.

Universal platform architecture for hybrid more electric aircraft

A method and system for controlling a three-phase drive connected to a three phase power source. The method includes connecting a converter to transfer power from the power source to a first direct current (DC) bus, where the converter and the first DC bus each have a neutral common point (NCP). Connecting a second DC bus to the first DC bus and configuring an inverter connected to the second DC bus to draw power from the second DC bus to provide a plurality of motor signals, the inverter having an inverter NCP. The method also includes connecting a neutral point selection device to the first DC bus NCP and selectively connecting to the converter NCP or the inverter NCP, the bus selection device configured to disconnect the converter NCP or the inverter NCP from the first DC bus NCP under selected conditions.
