The present invention is directed towards methods and systems for omni-directional wireless power transfer. The method comprises generating magnetic field in all directions, detecting the loads based on the magnetic field shape and focusing the power flow towards the detected loads, so as to maximize the energy efficiency of the wireless power transfer.

Systems and methods for load position detection and power control of omni-directional wireless power transfer

Methods and apparatus for determining the misalignment and mutual coupling between the transmitter coil and receiver coil, with or without an intermediate relay resonator coil, of a wireless power charging system are provided. The determination can be made without using any direct measurement from the receiver circuit. The technic involves exciting the transmitter coil of the wireless power charging system at several frequencies with equal or different input voltage/current, such that the number of equivalent circuit equations is at least equal to the number of unknown terms in the equations. The methods use the knowledge of only the input voltage and the input current of the transmitter coil. This means that the mutual inductance or magnetic coupling coefficient between the transmitter and receiver coils can be determined based on the information obtained from the transmitter circuit and there is no need for any wireless communication from or direct measurements of the receiver circuit.

Fast method for identifying coil misalignment/mutualcoupling in wireless charging systems

A method of transmitting power wirelessly from at least two transmitter loops to at least one power receiver. The method comprises separately supplying a respective alternating current to each one of the transmitter loops thereby to transmit wireless power for receipt by the at least one power receiver. Also provided is a method of receiving power wirelessly. Associated apparatuses and an associated system are also provided.

The present invention provides a wireless power transmitter comprising at least two loops, and separate drivers, each driving a respective one of the loops and providing a respective alternating current to the respective loop, thereby to transmit wireless power for receipt by at least one wireless power receiver. Also provided is a wireless power receiver comprising a receiver loop, and at least two focusing loops. An associated system and an associated method are also provided.

A method for identifying impedance related parameters in a wireless power transfer (WPT) system including n coils is disclosed. Said method includes determining optimum values of the impedance related parameters based on a set of measured input impedance by applying an evolutionary algorithm to solve optimum solutions. Wherein the set of measured input impedance includes an input impedance vector {right arrow over (Z)}=(Z, Z, . . . , Z, Z), each input impedance in the vector (Z) measured at different frequencies f, (k=1, 2, . . . m); and the impedance related parameters includes drepresenting a distance between the l-th coil and the l+1 coil (l=1, 2, . . . n&#x2212;1) and Crepresenting a capacitance of the capacitor connected to the i-th coil (i=1, 2, . . . n).
