A loudspeaker having an omnidirectional radiation pattern at high frequencies. The loudspeaker includes an acoustic device that includes an acoustic enclosure; an acoustic driver, mounted in the acoustic enclosure; and a sheet of compliant material with a aperture therethrough, mounted in the enclosure, between the acoustic driver and the environment.

An apparatus includes an acoustic device comprising a waveguide having a sound opening at one end facing a space, an audio source, an acoustic driver at another end of the waveguide, the acoustic driver facing a listening area, and structure supporting the acoustic device, the audio source, and the acoustic driver, as an integrated audio system, the acoustic driver and the opening in the waveguide facing in substantially different directions from the structure.

Acoustic radiating

An acoustic waveguide system contains a trunk waveguide and a number of branch waveguides. The trunk waveguide section defines an interior passage and includes at least one open end. A number of branch waveguide sections define an interior passage and include a junction end and a terminal end, with the junction end coupled to the trunk waveguide. One or more cavities can be coupled to at least one of the trunk or branch sections and communicate therewith through a vent for damping the resonance peak of a target standing wave.

Acoustic waveguiding

An acoustic waveguide loudspeaker system has an electroacoustical transducer having a vibratile surface. An acoustic waveguide has a first end open and a second end adjacent to the vibratile surface and an effective length corresponding substantially to a quarter wavelength at the lowest frequency of pressure wave energy to be transmitted between the first and second ends. Damping material in the waveguide near the vibratile surface is positioned so as to negligibly attenuate bass frequency energy while of sufficient volume to damp peaks at higher frequencies above the range of the bass frequency energy.

Frequency selective acoustic waveguide damping

A loudspeaker system includes a cabinet with top, bottom, front, rear and side panels enclosing a volume with the top and bottom panels extending to one side of the enclosed volume and supporting an angled tweeter baffle therebetween that supports a tweeter that radiates rearward and outward from its front surface and forward and inward from its back surface. The side panels adjacent to the tweeter baffle are angled with the front angled side panel formed with an opening accommodating a port tube. The tweeter is a cone loudspeaker driver having a basket formed with openings exposing the cone to the rear.
