A tiled head-mounted display device, comprising: an optical component including a plurality of prisms with free-form surfaces, each prism being a wedge prism comprising a first optical surface, a second optical surface and a third optical surface; and a display component including a plurality of micro-displays, wherein the number of the micro-displays and the number of the prisms with free-form surfaces is identical. The tiled head-mounted display device according to the present invention is compact and light, provides wide field of view and high resolution, especially for the optical tiling head-mounted display device, the exit pupil planes of each display channels are coincident, thus avoiding pupil aberration and keeping exit pupil diameter and eye clearance same as the single ocular. There is no resolution variance throughout the entire field of view, thus preventing extra trapezoid distortion. The tiled head-mounted display device according to the present invention can be readily applicable to augmented environments applications by simply adding an auxiliary free-form lens behind the free-form prism.

Wide angle and high resolution tiled head-mounted display device

A free-form prism-lens group includes: a primary prism, a first auxiliary lens and a second auxiliary lens, the primary prism includes three optical surfaces, the first auxiliary lens is arranged adjacent to the primary prism and is not used for imaging the image light entering the first auxiliary lens; the second auxiliary lens is arranged adjacent to the primary prism and a gap with a predetermined thickness is arranged between the second auxiliary lens and the primary prism, the second auxiliary lens extends in a direction perpendicular to an optical axis to cover an effective aperture of the image light entering the second auxiliary lens from the primary prism.

Free-form prism-lens group and near-eye display apparatus

An ultra-thin lens for augmented reality (AR) display includes: a primary lens, an intermediate lens, and a secondary lens. After entering the primary lens, image light undergoes two total reflections, then enters the intermediate lens and is partially reflected, then is directed to a human eye through the intermediate lens and the primary lens. The secondary lens is configured on the other side of the intermediate lens, and environmental light is directed to the human eye through the secondary lens, the intermediate lens, and the primary lens. According to the ultra-thin lens, total reflection and light splitting functions of the image light are realized respectively through the primary lens and the intermediate lens, so that the entire lens has a thin and light profile.

Ultra-thin lens, virtual image display device using same, and near-eye display

The present invention provides an ultra-thin optical component, including a mirror projection device and a reflector, where the mirror projection device is configured to refract image light symmetrically, then form a real image, and project the real image to the reflector, where the real image is located between a human eye and the reflector; and the reflector is configured to reflect the image light to the human eye. The present invention further provides a display device using the ultra-thin optical component and a virtual imaging method. By means of the ultra-thin optical component, the display device, and the imaging method in the present invention, an optical component is made thinner and lighter, and an image source display device is easier to configure and package, to achieve the appearance of ordinary glasses.

A freeform prism-lens group includes: a primary prism; a first auxiliary lens; and a beamsplitter film between the primary prism and the first auxiliary lens and having a predetermined beamsplitting ratio; wherein: the first auxiliary lens has a first optical surface substantially conforming to a neighboring freeform surface of the primary prism; and the first auxiliary lens has a second opposing optical surface distal from the primary prism that is planar, aspheric, or spherical with a curvature radius greater than 100 mm.

A rigid endoscope includes an endoscope tube, a light-emitting diode (LED) chip, an objective lens group, a rod lens group and a lead. the objective lens group and the rod lens group are disposed in the endoscope tube and arranged in a direction from a front end to a rear end of the endoscope tube; the LED chip is mounted at the front end of the endoscope tube; and the lead is led out from the LED chip, runs through a gap between an inner circle of the endoscope tube and an outer circle of the objective lens group, and arrives at the rear end of the endoscope tube.

A wearable augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) display apparatus includes an optical waveguide; an optical free-form surface; and a microdisplay; wherein optical free-form surface is optically coupled to the waveguide through an inclined optical path. A near-eye display apparatus includes two or more layers of waveguide plates arranged to overlap with each other, wherein within each layer of the waveguide plate includes multiple reflective surfaces different in reflectivity, so as to ensure that light transmitted through the waveguide plate has a substantially uniform distribution of intensity in a predetermined area when exiting outward from the waveguide plate. The waveguide optical element is ultrathin so as to be directly mounted into a spectacle frame. User experience and contrast level are also improved.

Near-eye display apparatus

A light-weight and ultrathin waveguide optical element having a large field of view includes two or more layers of waveguide plates provided to be overlapped with each other. Within each layer of the waveguide plate are included multiple reflective surfaces with different reflectivity, such that light transmitted through the waveguide plate has a substantially uniform distribution of intensity in a predetermined area when exiting from the waveguide plate. The waveguide optical element is ultrathin such that it can be directly mounted into a spectacle frame. Use of the waveguide optical element with a projection optical assembly can improve user experience as well as display effect with good contrast.

Wearable virtual reality and augmented reality display apparatus

A display apparatus includes a planar waveguide optical element, a projection optical system, and a microdisplay device. By including free-form optics and waveguide technology, the volume and weight of the display apparatus can be reduced, and an optical system can be realized with improved image quality, structure, and performance parameters.
