A snap-in jack assembly for a multi-conductor communications jack allow a plurality of insulated conductors forced into associated insulation displacing contacts having conductor-cutting anvils to establish a mechanical and electrical joint with an insulated metallic conductor. The force performed by an impact tool having a cutting edge for severing a portion of the insulated conductor which extends beyond the jack lead frame. A series of anvils adjacent to the frame and to the insulation displacing contacts support the insulated conductor and insure a clean cut without injury to the conductor or insulation.

A multi-conductor communications jack where the individual insulated conductors are forced into associated insulation displacing contacts to make a mechanical and electrical joint with the metallic conductor therein by means of an impact tool which also has thereon a cutting edge for severing the portion of the insulated conductor that extends beyond the jack lead frame. The improvement comprising a series of anvils adjacent the frame and insulation displacing contacts to support the insulated conductor and insure a clean cut without injury to the conductor or insulation.

Electrical conductor connecting system

A housing of the type for receiving telecommunication cables and multi-media connection members, wherein the housing includes a base plate with a side edge portion for supporting a plurality of multi-media connection members, a first optical fiber storage ring that is attached to the base, and a second optical fiber storage ring that is attached to the base substantially side-by-side with the first optic storage guide. The first and second optic storage guides each have a substantially cylindrical outer guide surface with a radius that is equal to or greater than the minimum bend radius of the optical fibers. The first and second optical fiber storage rings are spaced apart from each other to define a cross-over junction therebetween that is adapted to receive the optical fibers extending between the first and second fiber storage rings. An outer guidewall is selectively spaced about the first and second optical fiber storage guides to retain the optical fibers wrapped about the storage rings. The outer guidewalls have openings to receive the optical fibers into an optical fiber path about the first and second storage rings such that the optical fibers extend substantially tangentially toward the first or second optical fiber storage ring. A connection support platform is positioned in the first optical fiber storage ring, and is adapted to removably receive an electrical connector in a substantially fixed position relative to the base to facilitate a wire installation procedure.

Multi-media connection housing

A cable bundling strap anchor made by forming a number of tongues along an elongate band or bracket of flat, resilient metal or plastic by removing material in a form of a cutout such that the sides and one end of the cutout form a tongue attaching member. An open bundling strap is placed around the tongue from the tongue free end. Thereafter, a cable bundle is placed over the anchor and the strap is closed about the bundle. The stiffness of the cable bundle and the inability to move the bundle away from the plane of the band prevents removal of the strap from the anchor.

The first tool to force the conductor into the contact slot and the second tool, in a separate operation, to sever the excess conductor.
