A detector assembly for a duct of a heating ventilation and air conditioning system includes an outer housing having at least one through hole formed therein, an inner sampling support receivable within a hollow interior of the outer housing, and at least one detector mounted to the inner sampling support. The at least one detector is axially aligned with the at least one through hole when the inner sampling support is installed within the hollow interior of the outer housing. The at least one detector is operable to sample air within the duct to detect a hazardous condition.

Chamberless wide area duct smoke detector

An access control system and a method for operating an access control system are provided. The access control system includes a camera and an access control device and may additionally include a local processing device. At least one of the camera, the access control device, and the local processing device (when included) may be used to store a biometric identifier (e.g., in a storage medium) and compare an optical image with the biometric identifier (e.g., in an authentication module) to decide whether or not a mechanical or electronic lock should be unlocked. The camera, the access control device, and the local processing device (when included) are in short-range communication (e.g., to transmit the optical image and/or an authentication signal). The use of short-range communication allows the comparison of the optical image with the stored biometric identifier to be done locally instead of remotely (e.g., in a sever).

A method of determining a position of an object, the method including: receiving a first signal reflected from the object using a first device, the first device a peer to peer wireless communication device, interrogating a native communication protocol on the first device to output a first angle of arrival corresponding to the angle of arrival of the first signal at the first device, using a second device remote from the first device to receive a second signal reflected from the object, the second device a peer to peer wireless communication device, interrogating a native communication protocol on the second device to output a second angle of arrival corresponding to the angle of arrival of the second signal at the second device, calculating the position of the object based on the first and second angles of arrival, wherein the first and second devices are isolated from each other.
