A battery cover assembly for use with a battery cell structure having spaced apart positive and negative terminals along a given surface. The cover assembly includes a cover surface having a relief area and a wall depending from the cover surface. A support structure supports the cover surface relative to the given surface of a desired battery cell structure such that the open relief area is aligned with the negative terminal. At least a portion of the wall extends between the positive and negative terminals and the cover surface covers the positive terminal.

A fluid compressor apparatus includes a compressor for delivering a compressed fluid having a fluid pressure, whereby the compressed fluid includes a volume of liquid entrained in the compressed fluid. The apparatus also includes a prime mover for driving the compressor, the prime mover having an exhaust system which vents high temperature exhaust fluid. The exhaust system includes an exhaust pipe with a first exhaust pipe end and a second exhaust pipe end. A main separator is in fluid communication with the compressor for receiving the compressed fluid and separating the liquid entrained therein from the compressed fluid. The main separator includes an outlet for discharging the compressed fluid after all of the liquid has been substantially removed therefrom. The apparatus also preferably includes at least one continuous liquid separator for receiving the fluid discharged from the main separator, separating any of the volume of liquid remaining in the compressed fluid, discharging the compressed fluid from the apparatus through a compressed fluid conduit and continuously disposing of the volume of liquid through a liquid conduit. The apparatus has at least one liquid conduit for each of the at least one continuous liquid separators. Each liquid conduit interconnects one of the continuous liquid separators to the exhaust pipe between the first and second exhaust pipe ends. Each liquid conduit provides a flow path for the separated liquid as the continuous liquid separators are continuously purged by the compressed fluid pressure.

Apparatus and method for continuously disposing of condensate in a fluid compressor system

A system and method for controlling the temperature of the compressed fluid flowing through a compressor aftercooler. The system includes a compression module flow connected to an aftercooler and at least one repositionable fluid flow regulating member upstream from the aftercooler for modifying the volume of ambient fluid supplied across the aftercooler. The system further includes a temperature sensor for sensing the ambient temperature, and an actuator connected to the at least one fluid flow regulating member. A controller is in signal receiving relation with the temperature sensor and is in signal transmitting relation with the actuator. If the sensed ambient temperature is outside a predetermined range, a repositioning signal is sent by the controller to the actuator, extending or retracting the actuator the amount required to achieve the required fluid flow rate across the aftercooler and thereby maintain the desired aftercooler fluid discharge temperature for the ambient operating temperatures.

Fluid compressor aftercooler temperature control system and method

A self-contained seal air and instrument air system for a compressor includes a pneumatically controllable inlet valve and a pneumatically controllable valve means for depressurizing the compressor. An electronic controller directs compressor operation. A receiver tank is provided which includes an inlet through which compressed air enters and an outlet port. A means is provided for separating the compressed air flowing from the receiver into a first path which provides a first source of seal air to seals of a rotating shaft of the compressor, and a second path which provides instrument air. A means is provided for separating the compressed air flowing in the instrument air path into a first path which provides actuating air to the inlet valve and the valve means for depressurizing the compressor, and a second path which provides a source of signal air. First and second current-to-pressure converters are flow connected in the signal air path and are disposed in electronic signal receiving relation to the electronic controller. A second source of seal air is provided from a tap port disposed at a predetermined location on the compressor discharge.

A computerized diagnostic system includes a microprocessor-based electronic controller which controls a portable machine. Electronic sensors provide raw, operating parameters to a RAM type memory of the controller. A locator locates predetermined RAM addresses of raw machine operating parameters which are known to be useful in the monitoring and diagnosis of the portable machine. A remote, microprocessor-based computer diagnoses and monitors the electronically controlled machine. A display means displays the user friendly symbols in function-specific groupings which reveal patterns of machine operation, and which identifies the process which the machine is performing.

An air cooling system for an engine driven, multi-stage compressor is provided which includes a fan means for providing a cooling airstream to the air cooling system and an engine radiator. An intercooler has a predetermined height dimension and receives heated, compressed, interstage air. An oil cooler has a predetermined height dimension which is substantially less than the height dimension of the intercooler. An aftercooler receives hot, compressed, final stage air. The intercooler, the oil cooler, the radiator, and the aftercooler are arranged in two banks, each bank comprising two cooling cores juxtaposed one to each other. The intercooler and the engine radiator define the first bank which is positioned substantially adjacent to the fan means to receive the coolest cooling airstream. The oil cooler and the aftercooler define the second bank which receives warmer cooling air which has first passed through the first bank. The oil cooler is positioned behind the intercooler and the aftercooler is positioned behind the radiator.
