A method for operating a textile machine producing cross-wound packages has a multiplicity of autonomous work stations that each have a spinning apparatus and a winding apparatus and are equipped with a suction nozzle, connected to the vacuum network of the textile machine, for receiving a thread from the surface of a cross-wound package, and also a storage nozzle, likewise connected to the vacuum network, for temporarily storing excess thread length, and which is operated at least by one service unit that exchanges full cross-wound packages for empty tubes as required. The invention provides for the actuation of a cross-wound package/empty tube exchange by one of the service units to be prevented during the operations of restarting of the work stations, thereby ensuring that, during the restarting of the autonomous work stations, the maximum number of work stations always starts up again at the same time.

A textile machine for producing cross-wound packages, comprising a plurality of workstations, each of which has at least one pneumatic consumer, and comprising a suction system which has at least one vacuum source to which the pneumatic consumers of the workstations are connected via a machine-length vacuum duct arranged in the region of the central axis between two rows of workstations. In order to modify such a textile machine producing cross-wound packages in such a way that it is ensured that the required minimum spinning vacuum is always available at all workstations of the textile machine during spinning operation, according to the invention the textile machine producing cross-wound packages has, in addition to the vacuum duct, a machine-length bypass duct which is also installed in the region of the central axis and is arranged above chain ducts for service units.

A method for operating a textile machine with several identical workstations which each have a basic requirement for negative pressure for regular production operation and an additional requirement for negative pressure following an interruption to production at the workstation, and with a vacuum system with limited suction force to exert the negative pressure on the workstations. A suction air nozzle for a textile machine for storing a yarn length of a running yarn passing the nozzle opening. The nozzle has an elongate nozzle body, with a clear cross section having a narrower width in the region of its central longitudinal axis than in its tube-like edge regions. The nozzle further has an inlet opening, which has its largest width in the yarn running direction. The clear cross section of the nozzle body of the suction air nozzle increases from the inlet opening of the nozzle body in the axial direction to an end-side outlet opening.

A spinning device comprising a spinning box housing; a spinning rotor having a spinning cup on a rotor shaft; a cover element; a traveling belt acting tangentially on the rotor shaft; a rotor brake; a pivotable expander roller moveable within a maximum pivot angle via a pressure lever system connected to the brake gear of the rotor brake between an operative position when the spinning box is closed in an inoperative position wherein the expander roller is automatically lifted off the tangential belt and the rotor brake is applied to the rotor shaft when the spinning box is opened; a brake and locking lever having a locking recess in contact with an arresting roller arranged on the cover element; and an arrangement in the pressure lever system for absorbing shock-like forces acting on the expander roller and for preventing the forces from being transmitted to the brake and locking lever.
