The present invention relates to liquid-crystalline media comprising one or more compounds of formula DFS in which the groups and parameters occurring have the meanings indicated in claim, to high-frequency components comprising same, especially microwave components for high-frequency devices, such as devices for shifting the phase of microwaves, in particular for microwave phased-array antennas. The present invention further relates to novel mesogenic compounds.

Liquid-crystalline media which can be used, in particular, for electro-optical displays having active-matrix addressing based on the ECB effect and for IPS (in-plane switching) displays or FFS (fringe field switching) displays.

Liquid-crystalline media

The present invention relates to liquid crystal mixtures comprising one or more compounds of the formula A and, in addition one or more compounds of formula I or one or more compounds of formula II wherein the individual radicals have the respective meanings indicated in claim, to the use thereof for high-frequency components, and to high-frequency components, in particular antennae, especially for the gigahertz range, comprising these media.

Compounds of formula I, in which X, X, Sp, and R are as defined herein, are suitable for use in liquid-crystal media, such as liquid-crystal media used in liquid-crystal displays.

Compounds and liquid-crystalline medium

A liquid-crystal medium having a component A which is one or more compounds of the formula IA and corresponding, novel mesogenic compounds and the preparation thereof. These liquid-crystal media, are used in components for high-frequency technology, and to components of this type which contain the media. The components are suitable, in particular, for phase shifters in the microwave and millimeter wave region, for microwave and millimeter wave array antennae and very particularly for so-called tunable 'reflectarrays'.

Mesogenic compounds, liquid crystal media and components for high frequency technology

The invention relates to bimesogenic compounds of formula I wherein R, R, MG, MG, X, Xand Sphave the meaning given in claim, to the use of bimesogenic compounds of formula I in liquid crystal media and particular to flexoelectric liquid crystal devices comprising a liquid crystal medium according to the present invention.

Bimesogenic compounds and mesogenic media

The invention relates to substituted quinquephenyls of the formulae indicated in the claims and description. They are particularly suitable as UV-stabilizing component in liquid-crystalline media.

Substituted polyphenyls

Compounds of formula I their use in liquid-crystalline media, for example, for the phase shifting of microwaves for tunable phased-array antennae, and their use for high-frequency components, in particular antennae, especially for the gigahertz range.

The component contains a liquid-crystal compound of the formula I in which the parameters have the respective meanings given in the claims or in the text, or a liquid-crystal medium which itself comprises one or more compounds of this formula I. Also, the corresponding, novel liquid-crystal media, the use and preparation thereof, and the production and use of the components. The components are particularly suitable as phase shifters in the microwave and millimeter wave range, for microwave and millimeter wave array antennae and very particularly for so-called tuneable reflectarrays.
