In the method of hair color consultation, actual individual images of a person are continuously recorded by a video camera and are input into a computer in a continuous sequence in real time. Automatic image editing and processing is carried out in real time, in which the computer continuously marks hair regions of the individual images by an automatic analysis of close and similar pixel color values, of contiguous texture, and/or of contiguous morphological properties, and changes hair color of the hair regions according to predetermined specifications. Then the modified individual images with the changed hair color are displayed on the at least one screen and/or touch screen in real time so that the desired hair color may be selected. An apparatus for performing the method is also described.

The air nozzle attachment () for the hair dryer () is connectable to the blower opening () of the hair dryer and produces a hot-air stream () and a cold-air stream () that are arranged side-by-side. The air nozzle attachment () has a hot-air nozzle () and a cold-air nozzle () located side-by-side and, on an end connectable to the blower opening (), has a central conduit entrance () and a coaxial conduit entrance (), which open into the hot-air nozzle () and the cold-air nozzle () respectively. The handheld hair dryer for generating a heated air stream has a blower for generating an air stream, an electric heater for heating the air stream, a catalytic odor filter for deodorizing the air stream and a thermal radiator for heating the catalytic odor filter. The method for detecting an oil deficiency of oil lubricating a driven cutting blade of a haircutting machine includes measuring either drive motor current consumption, cutting blade vibration noise, haircutting machine sound level, cutting blade temperature, a force acting on one of the cutting blades or drive motor rotation speed and determining whether or not the oil deficiency has occurred from a change of the chosen measured variable from a standard value occurring during normal operation without the oil deficiency. The electrical haircutting machine includes an electric drive motor, cutting blades driven by the drive motor and a device (20) for detecting the oil deficiency which advantageously includes a device for measuring one of the above-mentioned measurement variables and also a comparator for comparing the measured variable with a predetermined temperature-dependent threshold value to determine whether the oil deficiency has occurred or not.

The holder releasably receives and holds a rechargeable tool portion and is associated with a cable electrically connecting the tool portion for line-powered operation or battery-powered operation with a current source. The holder has a shell-like rest enclosing a lower portion of the tool portion and is structured to be changeable from a first configuration, in which the tool portion is supported by the holder and is removable for battery-powered operation, to a second configuration, in which the tool portion with the holder attached can be used for line-powered operation. The second leg is provided with a plurality of catches engagable in cavities in the tool portion when the second leg is engaged with the first leg to form a compact structure together with the tool portion during line-powered operation.

The mechanism for the electrical appliance, especially for a hair cutting device, for line voltage or battery-powered operation comprises a tool portion with a rechargeable battery and an adapter, which is easily connected by a cable with a current source and which has means for easy maintenance and for easy connection and disconnection with the tool portion. The electrical appliance may also have a holder for the tool portion in which the tool portion can be held with the adapter connected. The tool portion may be easily detachable from the adapter held in the holder during battery powered operation or alternatively the tool portion with the adapter connected may be easily removed from the holder when the tool portion is energized by the line voltage.
