A force measuring unit for measuring a force applied to an individual chain link of a chain strand is used in underground mining applications. The force measuring unit may include a housing having a first end configured to be contacted by a first chain link leg and a second end configured to be contacted by a second chain link leg, and a distance measuring device accommodated within the housing and configured to measure an actual distance between the first chain link leg and the second chain link leg. The distance measuring device may include a first unit part configured to be contacted by the first chain link leg and a second unit part configured to be contacted by the second chain link leg.

A face conveyor includes a continuous conveyor formed by a conveyor chain with entrainment plates that are connected to chain links and which, when conveying, circulates in an outward run and a return run, each of which are guided in trough portions by trough elements, which are arranged in a row. Guides provided on each trough element include a first guide on a working face side and a second guide at a spacing from a goaf side. The first guide on the working face side is secured on the trough element between the outward run and the return run. The outward run and the return run extend in a laterally offset manner with respect to each other, and the trough portion guiding the entrainment plates in the outward run is open on the working face side.

To determine the location/position of at least one plant component even in the case of a dynamic mineral mining process, the detection unit includes an image sensor, by way of which at least four object points, which are at a predetermined spacing to each other and are detectable within the optical wavelength range, of at least one measuring object associated with one of the plant components, are detected and the position/location of the plant component can be determined from the projection of the object points detected by the image sensor.

A shield cap for a shield-type support for underground mining includes a cap plate, with reception devices for the connection of hydraulic cylinder heads to the shield cap, and a supporting structure welded below the cap plate and having a plurality of longitudinal spars. At least two of the longitudinal spars include substantially I-profile struts having an upper profile chord, a lower profile chord and a middle chord running perpendicularly to the two profile chords. The distance between the upper and the lower profile chord decreases at least over a part length of each strut.

An arrangement for extracting extraction products in caving in which the extraction product is extracted downwards through an extraction funnel into an extraction path and from this is transferred onto an extraction conveyor arranged in a conveyor path, in which arrangement the extraction path extends transversely between the conveyor path and an auxiliary path parallel to this, a loading ramp is arranged in the extraction path which forms a ramp surface orientated transversely to the conveying direction of the extraction conveyor and inclined towards it. The extraction path is provided with a rail guidance attached to the bottom and extending in the area between the auxiliary path and the conveying path, on which the loading ramp is guided and along which it can be moved by a displacement drive () in the direction of the conveyor path and in the opposite direction.

Arrangement for extracting extraction products in underground extraction operations in caving

In the method according to the invention and the arrangement or according to the invention for extracting extraction products in underground mining operations using the caving method, the extraction products () collapsing in an upper gate area () are extracted via at least one extraction funnel () or the like into an extraction path () driven below the gate and are transported away therein by means of an extraction conveyor (). According to the invention the extraction funnels () are arranged laterally beside the extraction conveyor () and lead at their lower end into a ramp surface () inclined towards the extraction conveyor, the extraction products extracted from the gate through the extraction funnels being transported slidingly over the inclined ramp surface to the extraction conveyor. The inclined ramp surface is preferably formed by a loading ramp () which is so arranged in an extraction chamber () branching off laterally from the extraction path that its one end (), disposed higher, is located below the extraction funnel and its other end (), disposed lower, forms an outlet () towards the extraction conveyor.

In the plough pick arrangement according to the invention for mining ploughs or coal ploughs, the plough pick is held in the socket of a pick holder. On that side of the pick holder which is leading in the working direction of the plough pick a pick lead-through opening is provided through which the pick can be inserted by its shank until it reaches a rear stop and is retained by a securing device. The pick can be removed from the socket through the same opening, after the securing device has been released, when pick replacement is necessary. This makes it possible to insert the pick into and remove it from the pick holder, not from the working side, but from the front of the holder. The pick holder and the pick are preferably provided with co-operating bearing and guiding faces which are inclined at an oblique angle to a plane parallel with the working face so that the cutting bit of the pick moves away from the working face when the pick is removed.

The pans of a scraper-chain conveyor are interconnected with a dog-bone type connector which fits into laterally open shaped pockets in the side walls of the pans. A projection on one of the ends of the connector engages in a recess closed off from the side access while a projection at the opposite end of the connector is locked in place with a swivelled-in locking plate. The plate fits into compartments in the side wall of the associated pan. The plate carries a resilient pin at one end which fits into recesses in one of the compartments while the opposite end of the plate has a tongue which snaps into a recess in the base of the opposite compartment.

A conveyor channel section has shaped side walls composed of superimposed rolled profiled strips identical in construction and shape A floor plate extends between the side walls and projects between inclined curved wall portions of upper and lower profiled strips. Longitudinal welds join the floor plate to the ends of the wall portions The wall portions merge with flanges extending inwardly of the floor plate and with ribs extending in an opposite direction outwardly of the floor plate at the level of the flanges. Spill plate holders are welded to the exteriors of the side walls between the ribs and connectors at the ends of the side walls permit adjacent channel sections to be joined together with the aid of coupling members.

Channel sections for scraper-chain conveyors

A channel section or pan for a scraper-chain conveyor has a floor plate welded between side walls. The floor plate has reduced thickness end regions which provide upper and lower tongues which establish joints with corresponding complementary tongues of the floor plates of adjacent pans. Each tongue has a prominent curvilinear profile in plan view with several smooth curved projections and depressions transverse of the floor plate.
