A cartridge ammunition, in particular grenade ammunition, is provided that includes a projectile and a propellant charge case for accommodating the projectile and a propulsion, having a high pressure chamber and a low pressure champer, wherein the projectile and the propellant charge case are fastened to one another by way of a connection. The connection includes a membrane having at least one target braking point/opening point, which opens at a predetermined pressure in the high pressure chamber of the propulsion.

Cartridge ammunition having a bursting device as a connection between projectile and propulsion

The cartridge ammunition () comprises a projectile () and a cartridge shell () receiving the same. The cartridges of the ammunition are magazined in a belt () and are pulled out of the belt by means of an unbelting device and transferred into the lock of the automatic firearm so that the individual projectiles () can be shot from the automatic firearm at a high shooting frequency. To minimize the forces abruptly exerted on the bottom flange of the cartridge shell () by means of the removal of the cartridge ammunition from the belt, at least one recess () is provided in the bottom flange () of the cartridge shell (), thus increasing the bending elasticity of the bottom flange, e.g. by reducing the thickness of the bottom flange. The recesses () may e.g. be designed as a groove () or as a series of blind bores () that extend in parallel to the edge of the bottom flange.

Cartridge ammunition

A projectile, particularly a practice round, has a projectile body that includes a hollow ogive that bursts upon striking the target into which marking material is inserted. The marking material is released when the projectile strikes the target and the ogive bursts. The marking material is covered by a protective cap that breaks when the projectile bursts on the target.

Projectile that marks the strike point

The cartridge-type training round consists of a projectile and a cartridge shell into which the projectile is inserted. The projectile includes a one-piece cylindrical central body () and a one-piece basin-shaped projectile tip () that is pressed onto the central body and engages a circumferential engagement bead () with a circumferential engagement slot () located in the central body (). The cartridge shell () is a one-piece basin-shaped part; it is also pressed onto the central body () and engages a circumferential engagement bead () with a circumferential engagement slot () of the central body (). A receiver recess () is provided in an approximately cylindrical projection () that is inserted centered from the base to receive the propulsive charge () and its igniter (). The round is of simple design, and may be manufactured inexpensively owing to its simple parts that may be largely of plastic without loss of function.

Cartridge practice round

Disclosed is an irritation grenade () comprising a receptacle () with at least one compartment () within which an effective charge () is accommodated and which ends in one respective discharge port () on opposite sides of the receptacle () while being locked by means of a closure (). A rocker-arm type igniter () is provided to ignite the effective charges. The combustion gases of the effective charges () are deflected in part by parts of the rocker-arm igniter () such that the irritation grenade is displaced when the effective charges () are ignited. In order to prevent this from happening, the cross section of the discharge ports () of the compartments () is embodied smaller on the side opposite the rocker-arm igniter () than the cross section of the discharge ports () on the side of the rocker-arm igniter () such that recoil forces which are generated when the effective charges () are burned and act upon the irritation grenade () are substantially identical on both opposite sides.

Irritation member

A training projectile includes at its head a hollow arched cavity or cap that defines a hollow cavity within the head of the training projectile, and that bursts when the projectile strikes a target. Into this cavity are placed a first chemically-inactive marking material and a second chemically-active marking material, whereby both marking materials are released upon bursting of the arched cavity. The first marking material creates, for example, a color effect by means of a colored powder; the second marking material produces a light effect by means of, for example, materials that interact to produce chemo-luminescence.

Projectile with means for marking its strike point

A rapid-fire weapon has a barrel with a projectile insertable into the barrel, which comprises several sub-projectiles disposed one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the barrel and supporting each other. A propellant charge and an ignition means are provided behind each sub-projectile for the sequential ignition of the propellant charges so that the sub-projectiles are successively ejected from the barrel. The sub-projectiles () are firmly connected with each other in the area of the propellant charges (') in each case by means of a mechanical connection and the connections have in each case at least one rated break point (&#x2032;) which is broken in a defined fashion after the ignition of the respective propellant by the pressure of the propellant gases.

Rapid-fire weapon

A cartridge munition, as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 7,107,909, includes a cartridge shell () and a projectile () inserted into it. A propulsion chamber () is provided within the cartridge shell that receives a propulsive charge () that may be ignited by means of a pyrotechnic igniter () and that develops propulsive gases that act on the base () of the projectile, driving it out of the cartridge shell. In order to prevent the pyrotechnic igniter from igniting spontaneously, and from igniting the propulsive charge () because of the ambient temperature or because of a fire, which would cause the cartridge shell and projectile to be separated and fly apart, it is proposed by the invention to provide exhaust channels () between the propulsion chamber and the exterior of the cartridge shell () that are filled with a fusible material, particularly a fusible metal (). The fusible material has a lower melting point than the ignition point of the igniter () and of the propulsive charge (). If the ambient temperature of the cartridge shell rises above the melting point of the fusible material, it melts, releasing the exhaust channels ().

Cartridge munition, particularly one of medium caliber

A cartridge munition, particularly practice round, includes a cartridge shell () and a projectile () inserted into it. A propulsion chamber () is provided within the cartridge shell that receives a propulsive charge () that may be ignited by means of a pyrotechnic igniter () and that develops propulsive gases that act on the base () of the projectile, driving it out of the cartridge shell. In order to prevent the pyrotechnic igniter from igniting spontaneously, and from igniting the propulsive charge () because of the ambient temperature or because of a fire, which would cause the cartridge shell and projectile to be separated and fly apart, it is proposed by the invention to provide exhaust channels () between the propulsion chamber and the exterior of the cartridge shell () that are filled with a fusible material, particularly a fusible metal (). The fusible material has a lower melting point than the ignition point of the igniter () and of the propulsive charge (). If the ambient temperature of the cartridge shell rises above the melting point of the fusible material, it melts, releasing the exhaust channels (), so that, upon delayed ignition of the propulsive charge, it burns without pressure buildup, and the cartridge shell and projectile remain together.

The invention relates to a training cartridge for an automatic rapid-fire weapon. Said training cartridge () has a central channel () running therethrough which accommodates a propellant charge () in the rear area of the cartridge () and is closed at the rear by a detonator charge () for the propellant charge (). The training cartridge and weapon barrel are configured in such a way that no live ammunition can be fired from said weapon barrel. The channel which is open at the cartridge tip is preferably used during the firing of the training cartridge to receive a mandrel () of a gas choke () which is mounted in the weapon barrel (). The propulsion gases which escape through the opening () at the cartridge tip propel the training cartridge backwards towards the weapon bolt and expel said cartridge from said bolt of the rapid-fire weapon. The bolt is simultaneously primed for the next shot.

Training cartridge for an automatic rapid-fire weapon

The igniter comprises a disk-shaped element () with a central portion () and a boundary portion () surrounding it for interrupting and/or releasing an ignition chain () of the igniter. Only the central portion interrupts the chain of ignition and is supported by a holding device (). A collecting space is provided around the holding device which, seen in the direction of flight of the projectile, is located below the boundary portion (). The central portion () and the boundary portion () are connected with each other by means of a rated breaking point (). Upon the initial acceleration of the projectile the boundary portion () is sheared off from the central portion () and received in the collecting space (), whereupon the central portion () is also subsequently removed from the ignition chain () by the twist of the projectile.

Igniter for a projectile which is fired from a barrel with angular momentum

The invention relates to an irritating body consisting of several compartments ( ) which are substantially parallel to the central axis of the container ( ) and which receive effect charges ( ). All the compartments ( ) are closed on the upper part of the container ( ) and lead to a common chamber ( ) which is open at the bottom on the opposite lower side of the container. The chamber has several side openings ( ) arranged in the direction of the periphery. This construction reduces the danger of the user being wounded due to inappropriate use.
