A heated vehicle window includes at least one ply of a glazing material, provided with an antenna and an array of electrical conductors forming a heating circuit. The heating circuit comprises a plurality of electrical conductors and at least two busbars for supplying direct electrical current to which the electrical conductors are connected. A discrete electrically conductive layer is provided to cover at least a portion of at least two of the busbars in direct current electrical isolation therefrom. The busbars and the discrete electrically conductive layer act as a capacitor in the presence of alternating electrical current.

Heated vehicle window

A retaining socket for mounting a vehicle glazing accessory is disclosed. The retaining socket comprises a base portion for mounting on the surface of a glazing; a retaining portion for retaining a vehicle glazing accessory; and a retaining portion for retaining a communication device. The base portion comprises an electrically conductive coupling portion, connected to the communication device. A glazing having such a socket mounted thereon is also disclosed.

An automotive glazing, comprising an antenna connector is disclosed. The glazing comprises at least a first ply of a transparent glazing material, and a ply of a plastics material extending across the ply of glazing material and having a line-like electrical conductor in contact therewith, a portion of the electrical conductor line being configured to form an antenna conductor and a portion being configured to form a coupling region. In addition, a surface contact is provided on the surface of the first ply of glazing material situated away from the plastics material, in registration with the coupling region. The coupling region and the surface contact form a transmission line acting as a bandpass filter for a frequency band f, the portion of the electrical conductor forming the coupling region having a length approximately equal to an odd multiple of a quarter of a first effective wavelength &#x3bb;in the glazing corresponding to f. Signals received by the antenna in the bandwidth are transferred between the coupling region and the surface contact by low-impedance radio frequency coupling. Preferably, the surface contact and the coupling region form a two-line transmission line.

Antenna connector

An automotive glazing having a non-galvanic contact for an electrical device associated with the glazing is disclosed. The glazing comprises a first ply and a second ply of transparent glazing material having a ply of interlayer material extending between the plies of glazing material. The glazing also comprises an electric circuit, having a first connector portion, situated adjacent the ply of interlayer material, the first connector portion being configured to form a coupling region such that electrical signals in the circuit are can be coupled between the coupling region and an electrical device placed on the glazing. A second connector portion is included on the surface of the second ply of glazing material situated away from the interlayer material, and connectable to an electrical device. The second connector portion is adapted to receive a ferromagnetic core. This leads to an increased coupling factor (efficiency), making the connection suitable for powering a variety of electrical devices used within automotive vehicles and conventionally mounted on glazings.

A retaining socket which allows detachable fixing of built-in parts of various kinds with various directions of movement during the fitting to glass panes comprises a base part, optionally serving to glue or otherwise fix the retaining socket to the glass pane, at least one first accommodation space for accommodating a retaining portion of a built-in part introduceable in the direction of movement perpendicular to the base part, and at least one second accommodation space for accommodating a retaining portion of a built-in part introduceable in the direction of movement parallel to the base part.

An antenna pane for use, for example, as a vehicle window, comprises a glass pane () carrying an electrically conductive coating (). The coating () includes a strip-like portion () divided into electrically isolated segments by barrier lines () spaced so the coating transmits HF radiation in a specified frequency range and constructed, by contacting in contact areas () at its two longitudinal sides () and by its outer dimensions, as a slot antenna for frequencies in said range.

A motor vehicle glass pane has an electrical arrangement () with conductor junction areas () arranged one beside the other an one surface of the pane (). A connecting element is provided which is connected to the conductor junction areas () and which is intended to connect the electrical arrangement () to a device an the motor vehicle for processing signals or voltage supply. The connecting element comprises a plug or clamping connector () for a flat Gable () which comprises a number of conductors insulated from one another. The plug or clamping connector () comprises an insulating flat body () incorporating a slot-shaped Gable fixture () arranged basically parallel to the surface of the pane. A flat Gable () with one free end () may be datachably inserted into the Gable fixture. The plug or clamping connector further comprises a number of connecting conductors (),the Gable-side ends () of which lead into the Gable fixture (),and the glass-side ends of which () are connectable to the conductor junction areas ().

A motor vehicle antenna pane with improved diversity and/or multiband applicability in the VHF range for mounting in a metal surround () provided with a conductive panel () spaced from the metal surround () such that an elongated dielectric slot () is produced between the two. In the slot () are arranged a number of slot antennas incorporating elongated radiating areas () extending along the length of the slot () the geometric forms of which are bounded by an HF-conductive frame incorporating at least one ground edge conductor () and one signal edge conductor () and at least one terminating conductor () terminating the slot antennas at their longitudinal ends. A laminated glass pane with a transparent functional film embedded between laminating layers, said functional film incorporating a recess, wherein in the area of the recess of the functional film is arranged a transparent auxiliary film whose thickness is essentially the same as the thickness of the functional film. To prevent faults in optical transmission in the area of the recess, the auxiliary film overlaps the edge of the recess at least slightly in some areas.

A motor vehicle, especially a passenger vehicle, has a metallic body provided with a window opening receiving an antenna window. The antenna window has inner and outer panes bonded together by a bonding layer with an optically-transparent electrically-conductive solar central coating reducing transmission in at least a part of the solar energy range. At least one edge of the window is left free from the coating and in this region a slot antenna is formed. At least at one additional edge, the coating runs to that edge and is overlapped by the framing portion of the vehicle body and is coupled with a high-frequency coupling to the coating.

A window antenna for a motor vehicle body opening in which the antenna is used for mobile radio in a double-band operation with bands have a long wavelength L and a short wavelength K. Two monopoles L/4 and K/4 are electrically connected by a foot portion to which the core of the coaxial feeder cable is adjoined. Two radials corresponding in dimensions to the monopoles can extend along at least one edge of the pane and parallel to the frame member. The radials are connected to the shielding. The spacing of the radials from the frame, the width of the radials and their lengths are selected so that the radiation characteristics are optimized and standing surface waves on the shielding of the cable is avoided.
