A wireless power system is disclosed that allows data to be read and written into a wireless power transmission system of a wireless power transmitter through near-field communications (NFC). A method of exchanging data with a power transmission system in the wireless power transmitter and a graphical user interface coupled to a wireless power receiver in communications with the wireless power transmitter includes communicating a data packet with the power transmission system through a near-field communications (NFC) link between a wireless power receiver and the wireless power transmitter; receiving the data packet in the power transmission system; and performing a task defined by a header command code in the data packet.

Near field communication and wireless power

A wireless power device is presented that avoids transmit conflicts. The device can include a rectifier circuit coupled to a coil; a transmit driver coupled to the rectifier circuit; a transmit detect circuit configured to detect receipt of transmitted wireless power at the coil; and a controller coupled to the transmit driver and the transmit detect circuit, the controller receiving a signal from the transmit detect circuit and providing an alert of the presence of the transmitted wireless power, the controller activating the transmit driver to transmit wireless power in absence of the signal. The wireless device can determine an operating mode and in a transmit mode determine presence of a received power. If received power is detected an alert can be provided and an off state initiated. If transmit power is not detected the transmit driver can be activated.

Wireless power Tx to Tx conflict and protection

Embodiments described herein provide a method for wireless power transmission of reconfigurable power levels. A wireless power receiver is used to receive power from a wireless power transmitter according to a negotiated power level. The wireless power receiver determines whether a re-negotiation condition is met at the wireless power receiver. The wireless power receiver then sends, to the wireless power transmitter, a re-negotiation request for an updated power level different from the negotiated power level. The wireless power receiver receives, from the wireless power transmitter, an acknowledgement that acknowledges the updated power level, and then operates to receive power from the wireless power transmitter according to the updated power level.

Reconfigurable power in a wireless power transfer system

In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, a wireless power receiver that ramps an ASK impedance is presented. A method of amplitude shift key (ASK) modulation in a wireless power receiver includes initiating transition of an ASK impedance from a first state to a second state, the ASK impedance being coupled to a resonant circuit that includes a wireless power receive coil that receives a time-varying magnetic field; transitioning the ASK impedance from the first state to the second state according to the transition over a plurality of switching cycles of the time-varying magnetic field; and holding the second state.

ASK modulation

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, data is modulated for transmission phase modulation. A method of transmitting data in a wireless power transmitter, includes transmitting a wireless power signal; encoding data to be transmitted into symbols; determining a phase shift to represent the symbols; and phase modulating the wireless power signal with the phase shift. A method of receiving data in a wireless power receiver includes receiving a wireless power signal that includes a phase modulated data signal; determining a period of each cycle of the wireless power signal; providing a running average over N&#x2212;1 cycles of the wireless power signal, where N represents the number of cycles of the wireless power signal in which each phase modulation is provided; and decoding the data from the running average.

Wireless power back channel communication

A wireless power system includes a receiver. The receiver may include a rectifier coupled to a receiver coil to receive power. The receiver may include a detector coupled to the rectifier to receive a monitor signal from the rectifier. The detector may provide a range signal indicating whether the monitor signal is outside a predetermined range. The receiver further includes an oscillation determiner coupled to the detector to receive the range signal. The oscillation determiner may determine that the rectifier is in an oscillation mode or is not in an oscillation mode. In some embodiments a communication unit is coupled to the oscillation determiner. The oscillation determiner may communicate a power adjustment signal and may request increased power through the communication unit.

Rx headroom adjustment for stability improvement in wireless power systems

A wireless power receiver may include a receive coil configured to generate an AC power signal responsive to wireless power transfer from a wireless power transmitter, and control logic configured to detect misalignment of the receive coil and a transmit coil of the wireless power transmitter responsive to a determination of efficiency of wireless power transfer therebetween. A method for operating a wireless power receiver may include detecting misalignment between a receive coil and a transmit coil of a wireless power transmitter responsive to detecting monitoring a value indicative of efficiency of wireless power transfer between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver, and causing an indication to be provided to a user to assist with correcting the misalignment.

Apparatuses and related methods for detecting coil alignment with a wireless power receiver

System and method for handshaking between first and second processors via a single wire connecting a first pin of the first processor and a second pin of the second processor are described. In one embodiment, the method comprises the first processor disabling an interrupt function on the first pin; and, subsequent to the disabling, interrupting the second processor by driving the first pin to a first logic level and then releasing the first pin to a second logic level.

System and method for communication handshaking between a master processors and a slave processor

A method for determining the location of a touch made to a capacitive touchscreen in which the touchscreen includes a plurality of electrodes distributed around a touch sensitive area of the touchscreen, and a control circuit connected to the plurality of electrodes. The control circuit includes circuitry for measuring capacitance on the sensor, and provides a control signal indicating coordinates of a touch position on the screen, and includes multiple input/output connections, and multiple sub-circuits, where one sub-circuit is associated with one electrode. The method includes using a first switching element of each sub-circuit, when closed, to connect an electrode to an energy storage element which is in turn connected to a reference or ground, and using a second switching element, when closed, to connect the energy storage element to a detector. The method includes charging an electrode to a set voltage level when the associated first and second switching elements are closed and opened, respectively, and measuring energy in the energy storage element with the detector when the first and second switching elements are opened and closed, respectively.
