A system comprising: a robot comprising an arm having an attachment and, for each of n joints, a driver and a joint sensor; and a control unit configured to: obtain a desired position of the attachment; for each of k<n joints, obtain a sensed joint state; compare the states to a set of criteria indicative of the arm moving from a first to a second configuration; the states matching the set of criteria, determine a magnitude of an adjustment signal configured to slow, halt or reverse movement of the arm towards the second configuration; using the desired position of the attachment and the states, determine a direction of the adjustment signal; for each of the n joints, obtain a sensed joint state; using the desired position of the attachment, the obtained n states and the adjustment signal, determine signals for controlling the drivers; and drive the joints using the signals.

Robotic joint control

A circuit is for sampling an analog input signal that receives and samples an analog input signal. Sampling circuitry is clocked at a sampling frequency and samples the analog input signal at a rate corresponding to the sampling frequency. The sampling circuitry includes at least one pulse density modulator that includes a comparator configured to be clocked at the sampling frequency, to provide bandpass sampling of the analog input signal at the sampling frequency, and to produce a corresponding pulsed output that is pulse density modulated based on the analog input signal.

Sampling circuitry

A modulator circuit includes a plurality of signal processing branches, each branch having a modulator for performing a delta-sigma modulation of a respective data stream portion in order to generate a modulated signal. The modulator circuit receives an input data stream having a carrier frequency; splits the input data stream into a plurality of data stream portions. Delta-sigma modulation is performed in each branch on a respective data stream portion. The respective modulated signals from each branch are combined to form an output signal for outputting at the carrier frequency.

A method of determining the presence of a secondary carrier signal in a time-domain sum-signal including a primary carrier signal is disclosed, the method comprising: transforming the sum-signal into the frequency domain; extracting at least one peak corresponding to a heterodyne tone from the transformed sum-signal; determining the presence of a secondary carrier signal in the sum-signal based on said at least one peak. A corresponding apparatus is also disclosed.

Simultaneous call transmission detection

The invention relates to an inhaler () comprising a capsule housing () for containing a medicament capsule (). The inhaler includes an airflow path () through which air flows during an airflow event from at least one air inlet () to an outlet (), the airflow path passing through the capsule housing. There is a first sensor (), a processor () and a power source () for powering the processor. The capsule housing is defined by at least one wall () and configured such that when a capsule is located in the capsule housing and sufficient air flows along the airflow path through the capsule housing, the capsule moves within the capsule housing. The first sensor is arranged on the inhaler so that it is able to detect the movement of the capsule within the capsule housing and generate a first signal indicative of said movement. The processor receives the first signal from the first sensor and uses said first signal to determine whether the first signal is indicative of the presence, or absence, of a capsule in the capsule housing during an airflow event and generate a capsule signal indicative thereof.

Inhaler

A method of classifying items from reflected signals returned from said items is disclosed, the method comprising: processing said return signals to discriminate between a first set of signals indicative of items of interest and a further set of signals indicative of clutter; identifying items from said first set of signals and classifying them as a first class of item; processing said further set of signals to identify a second set of signals indicative of further items of interest; identifying items from said second set of signals and classifying them as a second class of item.

Adaptive radar

Apparatus for determining positional information relating to an object, comprising: means for receiving, comprising a plurality of receiving elements; detection means for detecting signals received at the receiving elements and for generating output signals representative of the received signals; and processing means operable to apply, for each receiving element, a process to the output signal generated from the signal received at that receiving element separately from any output signal generated from a signal received at any other receiving element, so as to obtain a respective value of a parameter representative of the signal received at that receiving element, the processing means being further operable to compare the values of the parameter thus obtained so as to, obtain positional information relating to the object.
