The invention relates to pharmaceutical closures for containers made of flexible polyolefinic materials which are suitable to be filled with parentally administrable fluids prior to their sealing and sterilization. The polyolefinic closures have an excellent resealing capacity after being penetrated by a piercing device for establishing fluid communication with the container, even after multiple entries into the container.

Polyolefinic closures comprising penetrable plugs and annular channels

The invention relates to a process of preparing pharmaceutical closures for containers made of flexible polymeric materials which are suitable to be filled with parenterally administerable fluids prior to their sealing and sterilization. The process involves a specific relaxation period for the elastomer material of the closure which thereby can settle and develop resealing characteristics. The closures will have an excellent resealing capacity after being penetrated by a piercing device for establishing fluid communication with the container, even after multiple entries into the container.

Method of manufacturing pharmaceutical articles

A sealed container opening, intended for fluid communication with a container for storing medical fluids, comprising a tubular sleeve-formed part (,A) having a resilient pierceable stopper (,A) inserted in its mouth (,A) and a covering sealing device (,A). The sealed container opening contains the same autoclavable polyolefinic material as the container. All parts of said container opening, exposed to the fluid or fluid handling devices are sterilized in a single process by means of steam transferred to these parts during its autoclavation. Saddle formed port systems attachable to a flexible containers are also disclosed.
