Compositions and methods for the in situ formation of cross-linked organosiloxane films are disclosed. The disclosed films are long-lasting, flexible, transfer-resistant, water-resistant and oil-resistant. The film-forming compositions generally comprise alkoxy-terminated organosiloxane polymers and a catalyst and are useful for formulating cosmetics and personal care products.

There are provided topical compositions and methods for cleaning oil from the skin, nail or hair. The compositions have a vehicle and an effective amount of an oil-absorbing ingredient having an ethylene mixed block copolymer. There is also provided compositions and methods for treating acne, acne-related conditions, acne-prone skin and blemishes.

Oil absorbent topical compositions and methods for using same

A post-application expanding composition for application to hair fibers of the scalp, eyebrows or eyelashes is provided. The composition comprises at least one surfactant, a solvent for the surfactant, and a volatile agent in an amount that will cause the surfactant and solvent to interact and foam on the hair fibers thereby producing an expanded composition. The composition further contains a film-forming agent in an amount effective to form a film which when set fixes at least a portion of the expanded composition in its expanded state. The volatile agent is solubilized in the composition, and is further dispersed throughout the composition in nanometer size droplets or generated in situ on the hair fibers or immediately prior to application thereto so that the composition is storable in a non-pressurized container.

Mechanical properties, especially tensile and impact properties, of molding compositions comprising at least one thermoplastic oxymethylene polymer and optionally also containing an impact-enhancing amount of a polyurethane, can be improved by incorporating into the molding composition an effective amount greater than 10 weight percent of the composition of a monomeric formaldehyde/amino compound condensation product or prepolymeric amino resin selected from condensation products of formaldehyde and at least one of guanidine, urea, a substituted or unsubstituted guanamine and melamine, preferably having a degree of polymerization of about 2-5. An acid catalyst can be employed to promote the cross-linking reactions of the prepolymeric amino resin. In the compositions comprising polyurethane, amounts of the amino resin of less than 10 weight percent can be used.
