The disclosure relates to a method for generating a reference trajectory within a lane for a vehicle. The method comprises receiving at least one vehicle current state parameter describing a current state of the vehicle (S). The current state of the vehicle comprises at least a current position of the vehicle. Furthermore, a destination parameter describing a destination to be reached by the vehicle (S), and at least one route parameter describing a route for reaching the destination (S) are received. Moreover, the method comprises estimating a power loss being caused when traveling from the current position of the vehicle to the destination (S). The reference trajectory within the lane is determined such that it minimizes the power loss and leads to the destination (S). Additionally, a method for operating a vehicle is presented. According to this method, a reference trajectory is generated in accordance with the above method (S) and at least one control signal is provided for controlling a motion of the vehicle along the reference trajectory (S). Furthermore, a data processing apparatus, a vehicle and a computer-readable medium are presented.

The disclosure relates to a method for controlling a motion of a vehicle. The vehicle can comprise an electric powertrain having at least one drive axle with a left output shaft and a right output shaft, a power assisted steering unit, and a propulsion torque distribution unit. The propulsion torque distribution unit can be configured to allocate wheel torques of different magnitudes to the left output shaft and the right output shaft respectively. The method can comprise receiving a total longitudinal force target value, a total lateral force target value and a total yaw moment target value. The present disclosure relates to a steering control system for a vehicle, a vehicle comprising such a steering control system and a method for operating such a steering control system for a vehicle. The steering control system comprises a frequency filter unit, a first control unit, and a second control unit. The frequency filter unit comprises a high pass filter and a low pass filter. The frequency filter unit is configured to receive a request for a steering angle and filter the request into a low-pass filtered request and a high-pass filtered request. The first control unit is configured to determine a first controlling torque based on the low-pass filtered request the second control unit is configured to determine a second controlling torque based on the high-pass filtered request. The first control unit is different of the second control unit.

Steering control system

In general, techniques are described by which a computing system detects low-impact collisions. A computing system includes at least one processor and memory. The memory includes instructions that, when executed, cause the at least one processor to determine whether an object collided with a vehicle based on a comparison of data received from at least one motion sensor configured to measure at least an acceleration of the vehicle and data received from a plurality of level sensors, wherein each level sensor is configured to measure a relative position between a body of the vehicle and a respective wheel of a plurality of wheels of the vehicle. Execution of the instructions further causes the at least one processor to perform one or more actions in response to determining that the object collided with the vehicle.

Low-impact collision detection

Techniques are described for dynamically selecting vehicles to perform road friction probing maneuvers and estimating road friction based on sensor data collected while a vehicle performs the road friction probing maneuvers. In one example, a computing system is configured to select, from a plurality of vehicles, based on an amount of elapsed time since each respective vehicle of the plurality of vehicles has performed a road friction probing maneuver, a vehicle to perform the road friction probing maneuver within a road segment of a roadway, and responsive to selecting the vehicle, output, to the vehicle, a command causing the vehicle to perform the road friction probing maneuver within the road segment.

The present invention relates to a method for collision avoidance for a host vehicle, the method comprising: detecting a target in the vicinity of the vehicle; determining that the host vehicle is travelling on a collision course with the target; detecting a user initiated steering action for steering the vehicle towards one side of the target; determining a degree of understeering of the host vehicle; when the degree of understeering exceeds a first understeering threshold, controlling a steering control system of the vehicle to counteract the user initiated steering action to thereby reduce the degree of understeering. The invention further relates to an evasive steering system.

Method and system for collision avoidance

Techniques are described for estimating surface friction coefficients using lateral force excitations of one or more rear wheels of a rear wheel steering vehicle. In one example, a computing system is configured to cause excitation of a rear wheel using a lateral force that causes the rear wheel to initiate turning. The computing system may determine one or more slip angles that result from the excitation and determine a relationship between the lateral force and the slip angles. From the lateral force and slip angle relationship, the computing system may estimate the friction coefficient of a surface and may cause maneuvering of the rear wheel steering vehicle, or of another networked vehicle, to be based at least in part on the friction coefficient estimated for a particular driving surface.

The present invention relates to a method for assisting a driver of a host vehicle in the event of a road departure. Collecting a set of drive parameter values, wherein each drive parameter is indicative of a present driving condition parameter for the vehicle. A target is detected in the vicinity of the vehicle it is determined that the host vehicle is travelling on a collision course with the target. A method and a system for controlling wheel torques of a vehicle (201) to provide a desired vehicle yaw torque during a cornering event. A set of indirect yaw torque parameters (a,k) indicative of the indirect vehicle yaw torque contribution from lateral wheel forces are determined based on the present wheel torque data (PtTq) and the lateral acceleration data (LatAcc) and a model.
