The present invention provides anti-TNF&#x3b1; antibodies which selectively inhibit TNF&#x3b1; signalling through the p55R. In particular the present invention provides anti-TNF&#x3b1; antibodies which selectively inhibit TNF&#x3b1; signalling through the p55R relative to the p75R.

This invention provides binding proteins, including antibodies, antibody derivatives and antibody fragments, that specifically bind a CD154 (CD40L) protein. This invention also provides a chimeric, humanized or fully human antibody, antibody derivative or antibody fragment that specifically binds to an epitope to which a humanized Fab fragment comprising a variable heavy chain sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 1 and comprising a variable light chain sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 2 specifically binds. CD154 binding proteins of this invention may elicit reduced effector function relative to a second anti-CD154 antibody. CD154 binding proteins of this invention are useful in diagnostic and therapeutic methods, such as in the treatment and prevention of diseases including those that involve undesirable immune responses that are mediated by CD154-CD40 interactions.

The present invention provides a homogeneous assay for identifying an antibody producing cell producing an antibody which binds to a selected antigen comprising: a) providing a population of antibody producing cells; b) incubating said population of antibody producing cells with a selected antigen and a labeled anti-antibody antibody, wherein said anti-antibody antibody is capable of distinguishing cells producing an antibody which binds to the selected antigen from those cells which do not; and c) identifying an antibody producing cell capable of producing an antibody which binds to the selected antigen.

A motor vehicle with power take-off apparatus is equipped with an arrangement for automatically controlling the rate of supply of fuel to an internal combustion engine which drives the power take-off output shaft. This arrangement has a sensor which produces pulses at a repetition speed proportional to the speed of rotation of the power take-off output shaft, and circuitry which provides an output signal at one binary level if the sensed speed of rotation rises higher than a first reference speed on increasing from zero, and at the other binary level if the sensed speed of rotation falls below a second, lower reference speed on decreasing from above the first reference rate. This binary signal is used to control the state, energized or de-energized, of a solenoid which in turn controls, directly or indirectly, a mechanical device which acts on the flow of fuel to the engine. The road speed of the vehicle can be limited automatically in the same way.

Fuel rate control for internal combustion engines

Control apparatus for a drive transmission such as the hydraulic drive transmission of a fork lift truck is provided in which an electrical signal is developed having a frequency representative of the rate of rotation of the drive shaft of the transmission. A first switching circuit is controlled in response to the said signal so as to remain in one state thereof during each cycle of the said signal when the duration of the cycle is less than a predetermined duration, and to be settable in another state thereof by actuation of a manually operable direction switch, serving as a forward-reverse drive selector lever, when the duration of the said cycle is greater than the said predetermined duration. A second switching circuit is so controlled in response to the said signal as to be set into one state thereof in response to a cycle of the said signal when the duration of the said cycle falls below a second predetermined duration, and to be set into another state thereof when the duration of the said cycle increases to exceed a third predetermined duration. The second switching circuit effects energization of a low gear ratio electrical actuator or a high gear ratio electrical actuator respectively depending upon which one of the said two states of the second switching means prevails.
