The cutting machine body comprises a non-rotary housing mounted on a slideway and a boom carrying rotary housing rotatably supported by annular support means arranged adjacent to a radially outer margin of the body, drive means being provided on the non-rotary housing for rotating the boom carrying rotary housing.

Cutter unit assemblies for excavating machines and to excavating

The excavating machine has a cutter carrying boom carried by a boom support member which can be swung about an axis extending in the direction of the roadway. The machine includes a cutter unit and a stay unit each of which is releasably anchorable in the roadway and each of which can be advanced relative to the other unit.

Excavating machines

An elongated frame provides a track over a mining machine for a carriage which is hauled along by an endless chain. The carriage carries assembled crown roof support sections to adjacent the newly exposed rock boundary.

Mine equipment

A rock excavating machine for forming an arch type underground roadway includes a base carrying a forwardly extending cutter carrying arm having a cutter for cutting rock adjacent to the roadway floor and an upwardly extending cutter carrying arm having a cutter for cutting rock adjacent to the raodway roof. The forwardly extending cutter is mounted on an arm which swings around a vertical axis, and which is elevatable along the vertical axis. The upwardly extending cutter carrying arm swings around a horizontal axis. Roof support jacks and beams are mounted on the base rearwardly of the cutters. Lateral jacks anchor the machine in the tunnel during cutting.
