Real-time search (RTS) for mass spectrometry is described. In one aspect, a mass spectrometer can identify a candidate peptide for a product ion spectrum by searching a mass spectral database. While executing the search of the mass spectral database, the elapsed search time can be monitored. If the elapsed search time of the identification of the candidate peptide is completed before reaching a maximum value, then the mass spectrometer can perform further actions.

Operating a mass spectrometer utilizing mass spectral database search

Real-time search (RTS) for mass spectrometry is described. In one aspect, a mass spectrometer can identify a candidate peptide for a product ion spectrum by searching a mass spectral database. While executing the search of the mass spectral database, a candidate peptide score representing a confidence of a match between the product ion spectrum and a theoretical mass spectrum stored in the mass spectral database is generated. A failing score can be promoted to a passing result based on attributes of the candidate peptide.

Operating a mass spectrometer utilizing a promotion list

A firearm includes a trigger and a handle. The handle is configured to be gripped by the hand of a user of the firearm. The handle includes a front portion located under the trigger and facing the firing direction, a back portion located on a rear side of the handle facing a direction opposite of the firing direction, and primary and secondary side portions located between the front portion and the back portion. The primary side portion is configured to receive the shooting hand of the user and the secondary side portion is configured to receive the support hand of the user. The secondary side portion includes an elongated ridge protruding away from a surface of the secondary side portion. The ridge is configured to engage a heel of the support hand thereby allowing the support hand to absorb a portion of a recoil force when the firearm is fired.

A method of quantitative mass analysis of precursor species of different mass-to-charge (m/z) ratios from the same ion injection event is disclosed. A plurality of precursor ion species is introduced into a mass spectrometer at the same time, and isolated. A first subset of the isolated precursor ions having a first m/z ratio and a second subset of the isolated precursor ions having a second m/z ratio are fragmented. The fragmented ions are analyzed at the same time. A mass spectrum is generated for the fragment ions of the first and second subsets of precursor ions.
