A display system comprising a backlight device having a light emitting array, a liquid crystal panel, and a color filter having one or more absorbing dyes and, optionally, one or more dye enhancement compounds, wherein the one or more absorbing dyes and the one or more dye enhancement compounds are located in at least one color set of subpixels in the color filter. The one or more absorbing dyes may be a soluble, blue light, green light, or red light absorbing dye included in blue, green, or red subpixels of the color filter. A blue light absorbing dye may reduce transmission in a wavelength range of 410-430 nm, a green light absorbing dye may reduce transmission in a wavelength range of 490-570 nm, and a red light absorbing dye may reduce transmission of wavelengths less than 620 nm.

Color filter enhancements for display devices

The present disclosure describes a wellness application for digital usage comprising at least one software program that identifies the level of high energy visible light reduction provided by the thin film; and a dosimeter for sending data about ionizing radiation to the software. The software tracks the total time of device usage and determines wherein the software, based on a dosimeter measurement received from the dosimeter, communicates with at least one processor to execute at least one of: determine a notification for reducing exposure to high energy visible blue light about divide user interface, and adjust the display output by at least one of adjusting a color contrast and brightness, taking into account the level of visible light coverage and total time of device usage.

Systems for monitoring and regulating harmful blue light exposure from digital devices

A light-filtering film for a screen of a device comprising a polymer substrate. A first absorbing compound combined with the polymer substrate, the first absorbing compound absorbing blue light in a blue notch band having a full-width half-maximum of not greater than about 50 nm. A second absorbing compound combined with the polymer substrate, the second absorbing compound absorbing green light in a green notch, wherein the first absorbing compound comprises an absorption that has a maximum absorbance peak between about 420 nm and about 445 nm, and wherein the second absorbing compound has a maximum absorbance peak between about 540 nm and 610 nm.

Light emission reducing compounds for electronic devices

A display system and method are disclosed that includes an electronic display device and a backlight comprising a light-emitting array, a reflector adjacent to the light-emitting array, a diffuser opposite the reflector, a first brightness enhancing layer adjacent the diffuser, and an optical film in the backlight unit that includes at least one light conversion material or at least one light conversion material. The light conversion material is structured and configured to reduce hazardous blue light emissions between about 400 nm to about 500 nm. The disclosed display device can include a liquid crystal panel configured to control transmission of light from the backlight to a viewer. The display device also includes one or more optical films that incorporate one or more light conversion or light absorbing materials. The optical films can be positioned between the layers of the disclosed display device and give enhanced blue-light absorption to the display device.

Backlight unit with emission modification

A display device is disclosed that includes a backlight comprising light-emitting diodes. The disclosed display device includes a liquid crystal panel configured to control transmission of light from the backlight to a viewer. The display device also includes one or more optical films that incorporate one or more light conversion or light absorbing materials. The optical films can be positioned between the layers of the disclosed display device and give enhanced blue-light absorption to the display device.

A light source that includes an LED light source, and one or more encapsulants containing a light-absorbing component that absorbs light in the wavelength range of about 415 nm to about 435 nm and can include at least one phosphor that can provide an LED light source that emits white light having a reduced amount of blue light or even toxic blue light with minimal effect on color characteristics such as correlated color temperature (CCT), color gamut, and luminance.

A double-notch filter can, using input light from a conventional LED-backlit LCD display, output light that can be measured as substantially satisfying criteria for a D65 white point. In some examples, a double-notch filter can output light that can be measured as nearly satisfying criteria for a D65 white point, to within +/&#x2212; 500 Kelvin. In some examples, a double-notch filter can output light that can be measured as nearly satisfying criteria for a D65 white point, to within +/&#x2212; 1000 Kelvin.
